The latest RPG to come out from Mistwalker is The Last Story for the Wii. Not much has been heard about the game, but the studio has recently released more information and some concept art for the knights and mercenaries that occupy the game's world. The two factions, Knights and Mercenaries have been at odds during the game's beginning where Knights represent the law and order and pledge allegiance to a lord and lead a stable life.

Whereas the contrasting Mercenaries (who are the game's main characters) are treated as expendable soldiers who must fight to protect what they hold dear on a constant basis, including family and their villages. The Mercenaries are on a quest for power to prevent themselves from losing what they have. Knights have not known the loss Mercenaries have and serve as the antagonist in the game.

The Last Story Black Knight

The game director, Hironobu Sakaguchi, had this to say about the Mercenary characters:

"'Extreme Power' is poured onto those who harbor 'sadness and loneliness' ... however, they must not make mistakes in how it is used."

The Last Story seems very interesting in terms of setting and character, two incredibly important aspects of any RPG, and it doesn't look like the game will harbor any kind of sci-fi like tendencies like you may encounter in a Final Fantasy game. Either way, I'm sure it'll be something very cool to look forward to and we at Game ZXC will keep you updated on the information released for The Last Story.

The Last Story White Knight

The Last Story has no release date as of yet and is coming out exclusively for the Wii.
