Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has revealed that it's currently planning a sequel and PC port of the sci-fi action title, as well as details about its next game. The South Korean studio released Stellar Blade on April 26 and claims that the game has performed well above estimations.

Stellar Blade was Shift Up's first foray into AAA development, as the studio had only worked on mobile games prior to it. The fast-paced sci-fi action title was generally well received at launch, with reviewers noting that Stellar Blade had excellent Soulslike combat and that it was one of the PS5's best exclusives. The game was initially embroiled in controversy over some of the protagonist's outfit designs, but other than that, it has resonated well with fans, who'd like to see more of its post-apocalyptic world in the future.

The Stellar Blade Censorship Controversy Explained

With arguments about video game censorship raging across the internet, it’s time to look at what the Stellar Blade controversy is all about.

Thankfully, Stellar Blade's future appears bright, as Shift Up's latest financial report confirms that the studio is internally considering a PC release and sequel for the game. The report also revealed that Shift Up is working on a new IP codenamed Project Witches, which will be a gacha game planned to launch globally across console, PC, and mobile with cross-play. Additionally, it also confirmed that Stellar Blade is "exceeding expectations" in terms of sales performance on PS5, as well as ambitions for "a long-term revenue base" through multiple "high-quality sequels" for the action game.

Stellar Blade's PC Plans Have Been Announced Earlier than Expected

With the upcoming PC release for Stellar Blade, Shift Up aims to capitalize on an even larger player base. It's worth noting that the PC announcement came in record time for a PlayStation second-party title, considering it's been on the market for less than a month. Shift Up may have gauged a massive amount of demand from PC players and accelerated its PC plans accordingly. It remains to be seen when the studio will release the PC port, as the game's exclusivity period for PS5 is unknown. However, the confirmation of a possible sequel for Stellar Blade, and perhaps several more, is undoubtedly exciting for fans.

Shift Up's short-term plans for supporting PS5 are also still in effect, with Stellar Blade set to receive a Photo Mode in an upcoming update, as well as new IP collaborations and paid DLC, possibly offering players entirely new experiences within the game's existing world. The studio also described Project Witches as a "next-generation mega subculture IP" aiming to surpass its previous mobile title, Goddess of Victory: NIKKE. Moreover, Shift Up is in the final stages of becoming a public corporation, so the company may be a hot topic in the coming years.
