Stellar Blade: 6 Tricks To Get Overpowered Early Game

There are a few ways players can become overpowered early on in Stellar Blade. Here's what to do to gain an edge as soon as possible.

Humanity now lives in space along with cybernetic soldiers who are sent to try and take back Earth as futile as it may seem. Players are Eve, the only one left after a recent battle. After passing out, a human, Adam, revives her and so the two journey together on a quest for revenge. That’s the basic premise of Stellar Blade but players should know some other things before starting to avoid troubles later.

7 Don’t Forget To Adjust These Settings

Beyond difficulty levels in games like Stellar Blade, most players ignore settings before jumping in. This can often be detrimental to the experience as there are often hidden features that can help with a lot of things. For example, Quick Time Events, or QTEs have almost been scrubbed from video games as a feature.

They return in Stellar Blade, albeit in a limited capacity and their results can be set to automatic wins in the settings. Another great automatic setting will have Eve pick up loot without having a button prompt. Stellar Blade isn’t a loot game akin to Diablo, but there are a lot of consumables and materials used for upgrading gear.

6 Missing Mechanics And Hidden Ones

There Is A Map

The Xion map in Stellar Blade

The beginning few hours of the game are much different than the rest of the experience. It feels like a 3D Metroidvania with a Soulslike edge as there are camps in Stellar Blade that act like bonfires. Once players defeat Gigas, they will be transported to Xion.

Stellar Blade: 7 Tips To Master The Combat System

Stellar Blade is packed with riveting action that will keep players on their toes. Here's how to master the game's intricate combat system.

Here players can get their first round of real shops, side quests, and a taste of the map. It’s like a whole other experience that will lead to more open zones. So, for players that feel an urge to quit in the beginning area aka Eidos 7, they should toughen it out for the true game to unlock.

5 Become An Assassin

Unlock Ambush And Other Early Skills

Ambush skill in Stellar Blade

This game is unlike other action RPGs with EXP systems. Instead of gaining levels and boosting stats upon defeating enemies, players instead gain SP, or Skill Points, in Stellar Blade to spend on skills. One of the most important ones players should unlock on the double will change everything.

It’s called Ambush and it will unlock a back attack that will allow Eve to instantly kill enemies in the fiend in one hit. It doesn’t matter the size either. Other items like Exospines can make Eve more stealthy in Stellar Blade too, so players would be wise to not hold off on unlocking Ambush to make Eve a deadly assassin.

4 Become A Gun Master

Upgrading The Drone

Once players make it to Xion and talk to a few NPCs, they can leave with Lily and Adam for the next zone aka the Wasteland. Before shipping out, Lily will upgrade the drone and arm it with a gun, giving players access to ranged attacks in Stellar Blade. Players can further upgrade the drone manually with its own skill tree.

Initially, the drone doesn’t have a lot of ammo and the basic type won’t do a lot of damage. This may make players think the drone is worthless but they would be dead wrong. Upgrading the amount of ammo and the ammo types for the drone as quickly as possible will practically turn the game into a cakewalk, even during Stellar Blade’s intense boss fights.

3 There Is A Double Jump

Bypass Some Platforming Challenges

A random scavenger in Stellar Blade

The double jump mechanic is one of the wildest things that Stellar Blade keeps secret. In Xion, there is a quest that will unlock called Angel of Death. A random NPC will tell Eve that there are a bunch of ruthless Scavengers in the back alley.

If players investigate, they will be ambushed as that NPC set up a trap. Adam will save Eve and then Lily will upgrade her capabilities to include double jumping. It’s the easiest side quest in the game because it contains no fighting or puzzles and the double jump mechanic will help bypass a lot of the game’s platforming challenges, so players should not wait on this one.

2 What Money is Good For

Don’t Hold Back

A Shock Grenade in the store in Stellar Blade

Money is set up as Gold in this game, and it’s the easiest currency to acquire. Players should have an abundance and they might not know what to do with it. Players may wish to hold off on buying ammo or consumables from vending machines or using Gold at shops in Xion because they may think something uber-expensive will be waiting down the line.

Having that thought is a mistake as Stellar Blade is unlike other action RPGs in this regard. Players should not worry about spending money and should instead do so liberally. Vitcoins, on the other hand, should not be as readily exchanged at shops.

1 Wear Headphones

Sound Can Help Quests

Eve with Cryo Original soda in Stellar Blade

This game has one of the better soundtracks of the year which counts Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in that fold. Putting on headphones to hear Stellar Blade’s soundtrack will be a treat along with getting some background information about the world as Eve explores. There are also sound cues that will make some things easier.

From enemy placement to NPCs calling out in the field for help, headphones can help guide players. With the right drone upgrades, players can even find the can collectibles easier with sound. A decent sound system for the TV is all well and good too, but there’s nothing quite like that feedback players can get from a trendy headset on a console like the PS5.
