Arrow star Stephen Amell, has discussed the possibility of returning to the role of the emerald archer of Star City. Amell played Oliver Queen, who is also the vigilante who worked to unmask the corruption plaguing the city he grew up in and called home.

Recently, the Arrow star spoke about what it would take to bring him back to the role. This has been a frequent discussion, as this wasn't the first time the actor was asked, and Amell has recently spoke about his interest in the idea of coming back as Oliver Queen. This time the actor got a little more specific about what it would take to catch his interest.

"Oh, sure. I owe so much to the people of DC, The CW, and Warner Bros. Television. I love the character so much and only love it more now that it's coming up on two years since we wrapped the show," Amell said to Den of Geek. "But having a little space now, I saw that I miss it. I do look back very, very, very fondly on it." The actor concluded the answer with this, "So, if I can ever be of any any help, if I can be of service to the Arrowverse in any way, shape or form, or better still take it to a new place, which I think would be the more interesting route to go. Be that in a limited capacity or on a different platform, maybe one where we could show blood, that’d be really cool."

There are a lot of routes that Green Arrow can and should go to separate him not only from his vigilante counterpart, Batman, but also separate him from the big shadow of the CW television show. Seeing a new Green Arrow series on HBO Max with a darker twist would be really welcomed by fans. Peacemaker, for example, got a very good reception and it didn't hold back on the violence at all. Funny enough, there was also a lighthearted battle of the words between John Cena and Amell.

Seeing Arrow return to its "darker" routes would be really cool, as that's what got the show started in the first place before it took a much lighter tone as it welcomed the other costumed heroes. It took decades for Michael Keaton to return to his Batman role, so who's to say this may not happen for Amell.

If DC does decide to bring Green Arrow back, they would need a way to set him apart from being just Batman with arrows and less cool gadgets. Arrow did a good job at establishing Oliver Queen as his own character, so maybe DC can use this as a jumping off point for something in the future. Arrow gave Oliver Queen his own rogue's gallery, his own team of partners, and it built the world around him. One day in the future, someone is going to look at Arrow as the source material for characters to build off of, much in the same way that Batman: The Animated Series became the inspiration for a lot of recent Batman stories. People won't see how much this show changed the game until the dust settles.

Arrow is now streaming on Netflix.
