Valve, the company behind both Steam and the Steam Deck, has revealed the most popular games from last month. The company shared the top 10 games of August 2022 on its Twitter feed, highlighting the total number of hours played by fans on the handheld console.

The Steam Deck was released in early 2022, and the system now has tons of games that are playable on it - more than 500 new games were verified playable for the Steam Deck in August 2022 alone. There have been some clear winners when it comes to players' choices for this console, however. Intriguingly, the most popular Steam Deck titles include games like Skyrim, Monster Hunter Rise, and some surprises.

Steam Deck's Big Winners for August 2022

Valve's best games for the Steam Deck this month includes 10 titles with most hours played. Number 1 on the list is the roguelite bullet-hell survival game called Vampire Survivors, followed closely by the indie hit Cult of the Lamb and the massive From title Elden Ring. Surprisingly, some older games are also on the list, including the space exploration game No Man's Sky, Stardew Valley, and even one of the most popular RPGs of all time: Skyrim.

When compared to the most popular list from June 2022, there are some notable changes. The free-to-play Valve-made demo for the Steam Deck called Aperture Desk Job is no longer on the list. Binding of Issac: Rebirth, Rogue Legacy 2, Slay the Spire, and the Witcher have all been bumped out for newer titles and Skyrim. But No Man's Sky, Elden Ring, Hades, Stardew Valley, and Vampire Survivors remain.

Most likely, the top ten list of games will start to change wildly over the next few months as Valve opens Steam Deck to more countries. Later this year, gamers in South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, and other locations will be able to order one of these handheld devices. Also, there are more than 1.5 million people with Steam Deck reservations still awaiting their console to be shipped to them. All this coupled with the fact that many games are being verified for the Steam Deck every month, fans of the console can expect to see a lot of changes in the most popular titles in upcoming months.

Other changes that Steam Deck users can expect in the coming months is the addition of an official Steam Deck docking station, this shipping of many more units, and possibly even the announcement of upgraded versions of the handheld to be released in the future.
