As Bethesda fans count down the days until Starfield releases, the limited edition headset and controller based on the game have been spotted in the wild ahead of being officially announced. A picture of the limited edition Starfield controller began circulating online around two weeks ago, with talk of a themed headset accompanying it being mentioned on the Xbox Era podcast by K. Asante.

The two Starfield-themed peripherals are expected to be announced at Microsoft's Xbox Showcase on June 11, 2023. Initial rumors were treated cautiously; it was initially assumed that the leaked image was merely a custom controller, but as the rumors persisted and more information was revealed, it quickly gained credibility.

The previously rumored Starfield headset and controller are already being sold at German retailers Saturn and Mediamarkt. It appears that the items are only available in-store as these retailers do not have them listed on their websites as of writing. Microsoft has yet to officially announce the limited edition Starfield peripherals, but this news at least confirms their existence and should please those who had hoped that the early rumors had some substance to them. Some comments on the Reddit post made by thr0wSomeCode are hopeful that there will also be a Starfield-themed Xbox console to go along with them, but at this time, there is no information indicating that there are any plans to release one.

Starfield is easily one of the most hotly anticipated games for the remainder of 2023, particularly for Xbox fans who were disappointed by Redfall. Some might even say that Starfield needs to make up for the lackluster release of Redfall which was not particularly well received; the Metacritic score of 53 shows that critics were somewhat more generous than users who gave it a collectively unfavorable score of 2.1. Some users went so far as to call Redfall "unplayable" and "garbage." It could be said that the fact that Redfall got a total of five different limited edition controllers meant that Starfield would get at least one, but it wasn't until recently that the leaked image was accepted as legitimate.

Recently, leaker billbil-kun revealed that there will be three separate editions of Starfield available for purchase, but provided no further details about the contents of each. It could be that one of them might come with these themed peripherals, but this is only speculation. The upcoming Starfield Direct may yield some more details about what fans can expect.
