The special edition Starfield Xbox controller will provide owners with a bonus dynamic background to enjoy on their Xbox consoles. Starfield recently received an impressive 45-minute deep dive where many details about the game's vast open world and gameplay systems were examined. The Starfield Direct also saw the reveal of the game's Constellation Edition and two Starfield-themed Xbox accessories in a new Xbox headset and controller. One of the neat features of the Xbox Series X/S consoles is the addition of animated dynamic backgrounds. Over the years Xbox has added backgrounds from both first and third-party games like Halo Infinite, Pentiment, Dead Space, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Redfall, and most recently Diablo 4. It's become expected for Xbox to release a dynamic background for each of its new big first-party games and with Starfield imminent there are sure to be even more backgrounds added to the lineup.RELATED: Starfield Has The 'Fewest Bugs' Of Any Bethesda Game, Says Xbox HeadOn Twitter, Tom Warren from The Verge shared a short video of a new dynamic background which is unlocked by owning the freshly revealed Starfield-themed Xbox controller. The background is a dark screen with white topographic lines that swirl slowly. The theme is fitting for Starfield, as topographical lines have been featured in a lot fo the game's art so far and the massive space-faring RPG will have players exploring the topography and environments of thousands of planets.

That said, many people under the tweet were underwhelmed by the new background, calling it generic and hoping for Xbox to release a more exciting and colorful one upon Starfield's September 6 launch. It's not outside the realm of possibility for a single Xbox game to have more than one dynamic background, as 2021's Halo Infinite provided fans with two of them - one of the game's cover art and an action shot of Master Chief protecting a marine from Needler fire. With that, it's possible that fans could see Starfield's gorgeous cover art animated into a background, or perhaps some other dramatic scene from Starfield's vast array of planets.

Xbox's dynamic backgrounds have typically been free additions, so it's strange that one of them is being locked to a special edition controller. Perhaps this Starfield background will be made available for everyone at the game's launch and that its exclusivity is simply a limited time bonus for early adopters of the controller. Whatever the case, it's clear that Xbox has been stepping up its dynamic background consistency in recent months, as they've been few and far between since the 2020 launch of the Series X|S.

Starfield is coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S on September 6.
