The Den is one of the more popular trading outposts among players in Starfield. It's not too far away from one of the faction capitals, and it has one very important advantage that most other trading posts and storefronts don't have.

Getting to the Den is as simple as grav-jumping to its home system and docking the ship into its ports. However, since Starfield doesn't tell players about this station until later in the game, players may have trouble finding it by themselves. Here's a quick guide on how to reach this space station.

How to Get to The Den

Galactic location of the Wolf system in Starfield

The Den is orbiting a planetoid named Chthonia in the Wolf System, which is found northwest of Alpha Centauri on the galaxy map. Players can reach the Den from anywhere in the Settled Systems as long as their ship has enough fuel to jump through multiple star systems.

After reaching Chthonia's orbit, target the Den ("E" by default for keyboard users) and fly within 500 meters of the station. The "Dock" option should then appear, allowing all members of the Constellation to safely come aboard.

The Den may seem like nothing special at first — it's just a space bar with a merchant in it. However, this station is one of the go-to places for selling contraband in Starfield. Normally, players will have to undergo a scan when they enter the orbit of a settled planet. This isn't the case for the Den, and players can freely enter and exit its orbit without having to pass a security scan.

This means that players who want to sell illegal goods like AI cores, mech parts, harvested organs, and stolen artworks can simply fly to the Den and get Credits from black market trading. The Trade Authority office in the space station accepts all manners of loot, making it the perfect spot to sell stuff outside of cities like New Atlantis or Neon.

To get the most out of buying and selling items, players should invest points into the Commerce skill. When maxed, this increases the sell value of items by 25%, significantly increasing all profits made from bartering. This bonus is especially tangible with contraband items since those tend to sell for thousands of credits per piece.

One of the other popular contraband trading spots in the game is the Key, a space station in the Kryx System operated by pirates. However, players can't just fly up to it like the Den since it's involved in a lengthy faction quest line involving UC SysDef and the Crimson Fleet.

Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
