Starfield players have been recreating famous Star Wars vehicles over the past couple of months, with the latest being the classic Y-Wing starfighter from the original trilogy. Starfield’s spaceship customization suite has been one of the game’s strongest selling points, as it allows players to explore the universe in any craft they can dream up. This includes impressive tributes to existing ships like Cowboy Bebop’s Swordfish or Futurama’s Planet Express. Some more imaginative references include space vessels modeled after the Tumbler from The Dark Knight and the original Dino Megazord from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.

Given that Star Wars is one of the most iconic space franchises out there, it should come as no surprise that Starfield players have looked to the Galaxy Far, Far Away for inspiration for their custom ships. These creations have spanned multiple eras of the decade-spanning Star Wars timeline, from Knights of the Old Republic’s Ebon Hawk to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Stinger Mantis. With plenty of ships to choose from, Star Wars could be one of the biggest muses for Starfield shipbuilders, and yet another staple of the series has joined the many vessels to take flight in Bethesda’s space RPG epic.

Starfield Player Builds the Mandalorian’s Starfighter in the Game

A Starfield player with a love of Star Wars finds a way to recreate the ship from the Mandalorian in the game and shows off their design online.

A talented Reddit user by the handle of cardinal151515 recently shared their awe-inspiring recreation of the Y-Wing assault bomber of the original Star Wars trilogy on r/Starfield, earning praise from other Starfield players for capturing the look of the Rebel Alliance’s workhorse fighter. Cardinal151515 shared that the armored Y-Wing was their favorite Star Wars ship, so they converted their original Frontier into a near-exact duplicate of one.

Fans first saw the BTL Y-wing starfighter in Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope, though its use stretches back to the Clone Wars of the Prequel Era. In contrast to the agile A-Wings and more rounded X-Wings of the Rebel Alliance, the Y-Wing is built for both enduring and inflicting punishment while facing off against the forces of the Galactic Empire. As one of the oldest ships in the Star Wars franchise, the Y-Wing has been featured in countless video games like Rogue Squadron and Star Wars Battlefront 2, which allow players to unleash its missiles, torpedoes, and bombs in dogfights.

The Y-Wing’s tough armored exterior and powerful reflector shields would certainly come in handy while exploring Starfield’s over 1,000 procedurally-generated planets, and cardinal151515 has done a phenomenal job of recreating the Rebellion’s second most famous ship. There have been plenty of fun Star Wars tributes in Starfield already, and this doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon thanks to the freedom the game grants players who want to blast off into space their own way.

Starfield is available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
