A creative Starfield player customizes their ship to resemble a giant, old-school-looking vacuum cleaner. There have been a lot of strange ship designs from the Starfield fan base, but almost no one would have envisioned a giant vacuum cleaner floating in space. As strange as this choice is, it’s also a testament to how powerful the game’s customization features truly are.

Starfield has only been out for about a month, and the fanbase has already made some of the most creative ships imaginable. From ships that look like Ford Mustangs to ones resembling aircraft carriers, fans have created designs that even Bethesda would have never thought possible. Pop culture references are a common inspiration for ship designs in Starfield, as the internet has been flooded with images of Star Wars and Star Trek-inspired creations as well as more surprising references such as Power Ranger ships and the Planet Express from Futurama. Some fans have even made obscure references, such as the Galaxy Express Locomotive built in Starfield, based on the 1978 anime of the same name. Players have also made ships that can only be described as strange, weird, or even insane.

A Starfield player makes a helpful realization about the Manipulation skill after playing the open world sci-fi RPG for 220 hours.

One of the best examples of such a design is from Reddit user wahy159, who created a customized ship in Starfield in the shape of a vacuum cleaner. The posted slideshow is quite striking as it’s obvious what the ship is supposed to be the second someone looks at it. The only thing missing is a cord to plug into a wall; however, the big green button on top of the vacuum is a fantasizing detail that makes up for the cord’s absence.

The other ships that wahy159 have made have been more practical, such as the Heroic-class battle cruiser and another design that resembles a classic-looking battleship. Those two designs look ready for combat in Starfield, while the vacuum cleaner does not. In the comments, wahy159 revealed that this latest design is just a joke and that the ship’s attributes are average at best.

As weird as this vacuum cleaner design is, another recently customized ship might be even more strange. Reddit user Aromatic-Problem7500 posted a slideshow of their hotdog-themed ship in Starfield, and it’s about as strange as it sounds. Bethesda has stated that this game was made to be played for a very long time, much like one of their other big hits, Skyrim. If Starfield does end up having that type of longevity, players can expect to see some truly strange ship designs in the future.

Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
