  • Starfield mod "Project Tamriel" aims to merge lands from Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim.
  • Modders and fans can join the development process, releasing sections starting with Skyrim.
  • Starfield's first story expansion, Shattered Space, set for fall 2024 release, with new planet and ground vehicles.

A newly announced Starfield mod hopes to bring the lands of not one, not two, but three titles from The Elder Scrolls franchise to Bethesda Game Studios' latest RPG experience. Starfield is set to receive a major official content drop when its first story expansion, Shattered Space, releases later this year.

Much like previous Bethesda titles, Starfield has managed to build a solid community of modders since launching last September. Some of what are regarded as the best mods for Starfield are humble projects that provide players with significant quality-of-life improvements, such as the ones that unlock more in-depth graphic options. On the other hand, there are also mods that overhaul Starfield and essentially transform the sci-fi RPG into a different game. A recently announced mod wants to do just that by recreating the worlds of several past Bethesda titles in Starfield.

Starfield Mod Adds Star Wars Lightsabers To The Game

An impressive new Starfield Creation mod lets players wield powerful Lightsabers from the ever-popular sci-fi franchise Star Wars.

Project Tamriel is a mod that aims to bring the lands of Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim to Starfield, making a unified and seamless recreation of Bethesda's iconic fantasy setting. In a recent Reddit post, the development team said that its ambitious project will feature the three aforementioned titles' landscapes, quests, and items. The group's vision is to create a cohesive and detailed world where fans can rediscover, among other things, their favorite adventures in The Elder Scrolls universe.

Unified Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim Mod in Starfield

The Project Tamriel team plans to release the mod in sections, with Skyrim being the first to be put out, followed by Oblivion and Morrowind. Modders, artists, and fans of both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls are invited to join the group in making the ambitious concept a reality. In a similar story, a group of modders is trying to recreate Oblivion using Skyrim's engine.

Skyrim runs on an older version of the Creation Engine 2. The newer engine that powers Starfield, which features modern graphics technologies like real-time global illumination and improved volumetric lighting, will reportedly power The Elder Scrolls 6 as well. In an interview that was published last August, Pete Hines, then Bethesda's head of publishing, confirmed that the next entry in The Elder Scrolls series had already left pre-production. However, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer pointed out just a few months prior in June that the upcoming The Elder Scrolls title was, at that point, still five or more years away from being released.

Shattered Space, Starfield's first story DLC, is set to launch in fall 2024. A trailer for the expansion that was revealed at the recent Xbox Games Showcase teased a new planet, as well as long-awaited ground vehicles.
