Several innovations have arrived from Bethesda Studios with the release of the sci-fi epic Starfield. Perhaps most notable among them is New Atlantis, the largest city that the studio has ever created inside a game. Featuring many different districts and even its own futuristic metro system, there is plenty for players to do and explore within the confines of this metropolis alone. Located on the planet Jemison, New Atlantis is the first major settlement players are likely to encounter in the game.

Having arrived at the impressive Spaceport, it may be a bit overwhelming for players to know which areas are the best to visit and where the best items and quests are to be found. Fortunately, there is a lot of content in New Atlantis and a number of key locations worth visiting.

7 Visit The Viewport

Located in the Spaceport area of the city, this small but welcoming bar is a perfect resting spot for busy space travelers coming in and out of the city. As a result, players are able to recruit a number of companions from this location.

The bartender, Nyssa, is an enthusiastic drinks-maker herself and will have a special quest for the player if they interact with her. Similarly, Jemison Mercantile next door is a good merchant for players to buy and sell from, and will also have an additional quest for players who talk to the art dealer Samson Cebrail.

6 Visit Centaurian Arsenal

Centaurian Arsenal is a fantastic weapons store boasting a list of some of the best weapons in the game. Located in the Residential District, this top-end weapons store has a wide selection of firearms for players to choose from including the Marksman's AA-99 and two variants of the Assassin's Calibrated Maelstrom.

The store owner, Anya Griffon, is also happy to recommend certain products depending on what the player prefers. It is also helpful to know that she stocks a huge number of credits, so players can sell a vast amount of valuable weapons to her without worrying about draining all the vendor's credits.

5 Buy An Apartment

Considering the vast majority of planets within Starfield are inhospitable without the use of a Spacesuit, Jemison certainly makes for one of the most Earth-like environments in which players can settle.

Players can acquire several properties by speaking with Tuala in the MAST district, though United Colonies citizenship will be a prerequisite before purchasing. Alternatively, players can stay in borrowed rooms such as one at The Lodge, or the parents' house for players with the Kid Stuff character trait.

4 Visit The Sanctum Universum

Starfield Factions House of the Enlightened

The Sanctum Universum is one of the main religions within the Settled Systems, and its primary church is located in New Atlantis. These peaceful individuals believe in a supreme supernatural deity and seem to be a combination of several world religions, namely Buddhism and Christianity.

Players can join the Sanctum Universum by using the "Raised Universal" trait during character creation. This will give them access to unique dialogue options as well as an exclusive loot chest located inside the church, which is in turn located in the MAST district of the city.

3 Visit The Well

Beneath the utopian surface facade of New Atlantis lies a secret quarter that reveals the disparity between some of the UC's residents. This underbelly is home to some factions including the Trade Authority and The House of the Enlightened.

Players can find many vendors located here, and it is a good place to visit for a range of different services. Players can also rent a home in The Well, and while it might not be an Orion Tower penthouse, it comes at a significantly cheaper price. Though the district is quite obscure at first, players will be able to find it by using various elevators around the city.

2 Join The United Colonies

Becoming a citizen of the United Colonies isn't appealing to everyone - especially given the authoritarian undertones that cannot be concealed even with the number of reflective buildings erected in New Atlantis. However, joining the UC can provide several excellent benefits to players, and gives them the advantage of being a part of the game's strongest faction.

In addition to being able to purchase homes, players will be able to access the United Colonies questline, which will provide them with hours of content and an interesting story to follow. Completing this will also reward them with the largest house in the game: a penthouse in the city's residential district.

1 Join Constellation

The space-faring explorers guild known as Constellation is a collection of highly intellectual and curious individuals whose goal is to uncover the more esoteric mysteries of the universe. Their main headquarters, The Lodge, should be every player's first port-of-call upon entering the city since this will set them off on the game's main questline.

As well as receiving a long string of quests and all the rewards associated with each one, players can also stay in borrowed accommodations here by talking with Noele. This will give players a place to rest and recover as well as store cumbersome equipment without having to pay a fortune in rent.

Starfield is available now on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
