A Starfield player has uncovered some loot hiding in a rather unexpected place: the toilet. One of the primary gameplay elements of Bethesda’s space-themed RPG is collecting items, and inventory management, selling, buying, and even hiding loot is something that Starfield players will spend quite a bit of time doing.

Almost every location in the game — be it an abandoned mining station on a remote planet, a cave, or a random building in Starfield’s bustling metropolis New Atlantis — has tantalizing items just begging to be scooped up. And players who appreciate this aspect of the game will pass many hours looking in every nook and cranny to find items, decorating their outposts, and then searching for more.

But there’s one location in Starfield that a lot of players probably didn’t realize was hiding loot. Twitch streamer Blurbs recently managed to look inside a toilet and spotted a med pack hiding in the bowl. And this wasn’t a one-off discovery; a second toilet similarly yielded a healing item. This is particularly noteworthy because the toilets in the game can’t manually be opened. Getting into them requires some finagling and maneuvering of other objects to get the lid to stay open, so it’s particularly amusing that Bethesda took the time to conceal goodies inside them and reward exploration.

After this discovery, it’s likely that a lot of Starfield players will begin peeking into toilets, although it could be a time-consuming venture since it requires more than just pressing a button. Then there’s the problem of what to do with this gradually accumulating pile of loot. A lack of storage is something that many people encounter very early on in the game, and even after building outposts and adding storage bins, it never really stops being a constant problem.

Thankfully, there is at least one location in Starfield that provides unlimited item storage, and this can be found in the Lodge in New Atlantis. Not only does the player’s assigned housing in the Lodge have a safe with no mass limit, but there are two additional boxes with unlimited space in the basement. Those latter storage bins unfortunately aren’t linked to workbenches, and so accessing items stashed within them has to be done manually, but they’re a huge boon nonetheless.

Officially released on September 6, Bethesda’s latest RPG had already garnered a lot of praise and attention, thanks to its five-day early access period that let many players jump into the game a few days before launch. Starfield is now one of the highest-rated games of 2023, and many fans think it’s a game of the year contender, facing off with the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur’s Gate 3, and the upcoming Spider-Man 2.

Starfield is available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
