Games developed by Bethesda have always focused on making an adventure feel personal to the player. Starfield is no different and is designed to be enjoyed by the players however they see fit. Fans can customize their characters, outfit them the way they want, and choose the path of a hero or a space pirate. This extends to a fleet of ships in Starfield and their names. So if Star Wars fans want to name their spacecraft the Millennium Falcon or the Death Star, Starfield lets them do it. This guide outlines the steps to change the name of their ship in Starfield.

How To Rename A Ship

Starfield - Ship modifcation screen

In Starfield, players can buy, steal, and claim spaceships to add to their fleet. Some of the best ships in the game can be found by completing quests like the Mantis quest, which rewards players with the Razorleaf spacecraft. However, budding fleet captains can rename their crafts to something more personal. Use the following steps to change the name of their spaceships in Starfield:

  • When players first land in New Atlantis in the Jemison System, a Ship Services Technician will introduce themselves. The Ship Services Technicians allow players to modify, upgrade, and rename their ships.
  • Speak to the technician and select I'd like to view and modify my ships.
  • Select Ship Builder on the first screen.
  • Select the Flight Check option.
  • Now, select Rename Ship by pressing X on the controller.
Starfield - changing the ship's name
  • Players can now rename their ship.
  • Confirm the new name and Exit.
  • Players can do this free of charge.

Stroud Eklund Stores

As players explore the galaxy and travel to new cities, they will likely find the Stroud Eklund stores. Players don't need to speak to a technician to modify and buy new ships in these stores. They can interact with the shop's terminal and use the above steps to change the name of their crafts.

Walter Stroud is a member of Constellation and owns The Lodge in Starfield, which acts as a headquarters for the team. Unfortunately, the player doesn't get a discount on new ships and upgrades. One of the first Stroud Eklund stores players will encounter can be found in Neon City on Volii Alpha in the Volii System if players follow the main story or travel there exploring.

Starfield is available now for the PC and Xbox Series X/S.
