Picking a place clean of loot only to get over-encumbered is one of the most annoying things to deal with in Starfield. Even players who have maxed out their carrying capacity will eventually run into situations like these again, forcing them to shed some weight just to make it back to their ship.

Thankfully, there are a bunch of temporary buffs in Starfield that can make this problem go away for a while. The Pick-Me-Up consumable aid item is one such solution to this and might just be the best at increasing one's carrying capacity over the usual limit. Here's how to find the recipe for this handy chem.

The first step to getting the Pick-Me-Up recipe is to start the United Colonies quest line. Early on, players will get the Delivering Devils quest, which is all about helping a former UC researcher named Percival on Mars pay back his debt.

Go to Cydonia and head to the Sixth Circle bar on the lower levels. After speaking with the barkeep, Lou, speak with Cambridge Cooper, the man leaning against the wall by a round table, and he will tell players that they can wipe Percival's debt to the Trade Authority by selling them their research data.

Cooper will then tell players to travel to an abandoned mine near Cydonia that's been overrun by spacers. Eliminate the bandits and continue to Cooper and Percival's old research lab. Follow the instructions laid out by the quest log to finish the scientists' research, then report back to Cydonia. Players should already have the Pick-Me-Up recipe learned after they speak with Cooper, but if not, then speak with Oktai at the Trade Authority and sell the recipe to him.

Pick-Me-Up is a chem that increases the user's carrying capacity by 50 for 15 minutes. This provides enough extra storage space to afford a handful of extra weapons or significant quantities of heavy resources like drilling rigs, semimetal wafers, and other manufactured components. The 15-minute duration on a single Pick-Me-Up dose is great, but it can largely be ignored as the most important part of the increased carry weight is that it re-enables fast travel.

Players can craft as many Pick-Me-Up inhalers as they want without having to unlock anything at the Research Lab. Once they have the recipe, it'll be available to craft at any Pharmaceutical Lab. Make sure to harvest some Aqueous Hematite from the abandoned mine in Cydonia, as it's a key component to the chem.

Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
