  • An extremely creative player in Starfield has recreated the Planet Express ship from Futurama.
  • Despite some criticism, Starfield has been praised for its physics engine and gunplay, and the ship builder feature stands out as a fan favorite.

An extremely creative Starfield player managed to recreate an accurate version of the Planet Express ship from Futurama. As Starfield continues to break player milestones on Steam and beyond, Bethesda seems to have captured a wide audience once again with its latest release. Though there has certainly been a healthy dose of criticism from the community in Starfield, there have also been plenty of things to enjoy in the Settled Systems. For every criticism of Starfield's space exploration or lack of weapon variety, there has been praise for its physics engine or gunplay.

However, no feature has quite captured the heart of its audience the way the ship builder in Starfield has. Since launch, players have passionately shared their designs, whether original concepts or faithful recreations, all across social media. Star Trek, Star Wars, StarCraft, Mass Effect – the Starfield community has seen ship designs from just about any sci-fi franchise a person could think of, and the ship builder has been flexible enough to accommodate even the most ambitious of ideas, such as recreating the Star Destroyer in Starfield.

For RoseWoman2020 the goal was simple: building the Planet Express ship from Futurama, and then sharing it on the official Starfield subreddit. She incorporated ideas from RADiCALRUX's build, but attempted to make the proportions be more accurate to the design from the show. Though the build is undoubtedly impressive from a visual standpoint, RoseWoman2020 still thinks there is room for improvement, as the ship doesn't have a C-class reactor, and it's a bit on the lighter side in terms of weaponry.

While the ship builder is an excellent creative outlet in Starfield, its gameplay side shouldn't be neglected, as grav-jumping through the Settled Systems isn't without its fair share of excitement. Va'ruun Zealots, Spacers, and the Crimson Fleet alike will engage in random skirmishes with the player, and if their ship isn't suitably equipped, it's highly likely that these entanglements will results in a game over screen. Better lasers, reactors, engines, or even shields for Starfield's ships can be found on higher-level enemies, but they can also be purchased at different docks across the Settled Systems, with each major manufacturer having their own exclusive parts to sell.

The Planet Express design made by RoseWoman2020 couldn't have been more timely, as the Futurama reboot is currently airing the show's eighth season. The original voice cast, including John DiMaggio, returned for the reboot, which has thus far received favorable reviews. While the base game version of the ship builder struggles to work with round edges, the eventual release of modding tools for Starfield may pave the way for new ship parts, and thus even more accurate designs in the near future.

Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
