There are several Factions that players can join while exploring the Galaxy in Starfield. However, keep in mind that each Faction has its own Quests with the biggest one being Constellation. Additionally, players will also encounter some Factions that they can’t join and others that they also can’t join but can complete a small mission for them.
Other than that, players are free to join another Faction and complete its Side Quests in Starfield to earn a variety of rewards like Legendary Gear, Weapons, or even a new Spaceship. All Factions have a few steps Protagonists need to complete before joining.
Constellation
- Location: The Lodge, New Atlantis, Jemison Planet, Alpha Centauri System.
A crucial Faction in Starfield is the Constellation. This organization groups the most curious individuals who join powers to explore the Galaxy. Players will join the Constellation by default at the beginning of the game and numerous Quests along the way. Keep in mind that since the Constellation main story, all of its Quests are Main Quests:

UC Vanguard
- Location: New Atlantis, Jemison Planet, Alpha Centauri System.
After the great catastrophe that hit the Earth, the people who fled the destroyed Planet settled in the Alpha Centauri System and created the UC Vanguard. The United Colonies are partly responsible for the Colony War. To join the UC Vanguard, players must register for the UC by interacting with Tuala in the MAST District, New Atlantis in Starfield. There are a total of nine Quests that belong to the United Colonies:

- Delivering Devils
- Eyewitness
- Friends Like These
- The Devils You Know
- War Relics
- Hostile Intelligence
- A Legacy Forged
Freestar Collective
- Location: Akila City, Akila Planet, Cheyenne System.
The Freestar Collective is a Faction that believes in freedom, which is one of the biggest reasons why it went against the UC Vanguard in the Colony War. To become a Freestar Ranger in Starfield, head to The Rock in Akila City and speak with Emma Wilcox to complete a few missions and join the Organization. Other than the Faction Mission Board Quests, Protagonists will encounter the following Side Quests:

Ryujin Industries
- Location: Neon, Volii Alpha Planet, Volii System.
It’s safe to assume that Neon is not that strict and almost anything can happen inside the city. Neon is also known as a pleasure city by the Settled Systems in Starfield. To join this rule-bending Faction, aka Ryujin Industries, players need to trigger the Back To The Grind Quest in Starfield by interacting with any nearby Ryujin Industries kiosks. - Location: The Key, Kryx System.
Crimson Fleet is a Faction that consists of Space Pirates that hijack other Spaceships for valuables and Ship Parts. The method to join the Crimson Fleet is interesting as players must commit a crime like smuggling or pickpocketing and get caught. Once Kibwe Ikande of the UC SysDef appears and offers a choice, accept it to become a double agent to trigger the Deep Cover Quest. Here are the available Quests:
