Though many may be passionate about the plethora of new features that update 1.6 brings to Stardew Valley, some players may be shocked when they first spot the frightening Green Rain. A new weather condition can cause fear and panic. Thankfully, the green color of the raindrops does not suggest imminent doom at all. On the contrary, this moisture awakens even more natural forces into the world.

Having an amazing effect on plants, Green Rain can cause strange and very active mutations. Of course, you don’t have to worry because everything will return to normal once the rain is over. That said, you should do your best to make the most of this weather event.

What Does Green Rain in Stardew Valley Do?

Green Rain in Stardew Valley

Although many players' first encounter with Green Rain in Stardew Valley is random, this weather condition is predictable and is preceded by certain events:

  • Firstly, Green Rain only happens in Summer and will never take you by surprise at other times of the year. However, it can happen any day.
  • The second condition is a weird weather forecast on TV. The day before the rain, a Weather Report on TV will state the following: “Um... There appears to be some kind of... anomalous reading... I... don’t know what this means...”
  • In addition, there will be a strange noise on all channels.

Waiting until the next day and going outside, you will encounter Green Rain. This rain will not harm you, so you can calmly walk under it without fear of damage or deadly consequences.

You will likely also notice a lot of greenery filling the entire area when you look around. Almost every tree and bush will be covered in Moss, more weeds will grow everywhere, and large vine-like shoots of Fiddlehead Fern will appear in some places.

All these are extremely valuable materials that are not so easy to obtain at other times. So grab your tools and collect as many as you can. The day will fly by very quickly, and the next rain will not come soon. With the dawn of a new day, the entire natural environment will return to how it was prior to the Green Rain.

Where to Find the Bookseller in Stardew Valley

If you have many lost books in Stardew Valley that you don't need anymore, you should learn where to find the Bookseller, a traveling merchant.

Collecting these green resources is vital to progress as they allow you to create many valuable items, such as Deluxe Worm Bin, Mushroom Log, Speed-Gro, and much more. But this is not the only advantage of Green Rain. Throughout the day, all residents of Pelican Town, except Demetrius and Linus, will take shelter from the rain in the Saloon. It is the best opportunity to find any character you are interested in at one place and quickly complete several dialogues to increase friendship levels. Otherwise, you'll have to spend time finding everyone you need in different parts of the world.

This event is also a good opportunity to complete the Chef’s Bundle at the Community Center. In addition, we advise you to talk to Demetrius in the hazmat suit during the rain. Perhaps he will tell you something interesting.
