Stardew Valley update 1.5.6.39 is now rolling out to mobile devices, introducing over a dozen bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements to the hit management sim, as detailed in its recently published patch notes. The eighth Stardew Valley update that Android and iOS received in 2023 and their 51st overall arrives just ahead of the seventh anniversary of the original game.

The Harvest Moon-inspired indie hit launched in 2016 for PC and consoles before making its way to mobile devices three years later. Ever since its debut, the game was lauded for its varied gameplay and immense replayability, as well as a consistent influx of updates made all the more impressive by the fact Stardew Valley was a one-man project until four years into its release, when Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone hired one other developer. The mobile versions of Stardew Valley made the jump to version 1.5.6 back in January, which brought feature parity with the PC build of the game, sans multiplayer functionality.

The 1.5.6.39 build that rolled out to mobile devices on February 20 irons out many bugs and edge-case crashes introduced by the last minor update from January. Its patch notes also confirm that a number of quality-of-life improvements are part of the new package, including an advanced crafting info button and a flash effects toggle. Assuming this patch is the last bit of polish required by the 1.5 version of the game, ConcernedApe will now presumably turn to wrapping up work on Stardew Valley 1.6 update, which he previously confirmed will only launch after the mobile ports make the jump to build 1.5. As per usual, the update will likely be treated to a staggered release targeting PC, consoles, and mobile, in that order.

Although there's a decent number of quality games similar to Stardew Valley nowadays, only a select few developers managed to keep pace with ConcernedApe's immense consistency at delivering new features and improvements over the years. The arrival of the 1.5.6.39 patch to mobile devices is yet another piece of evidence testifying to that incredible track record of support, so while Stardew Valley is now inching closer to what's likely to be its final content update, the legacy of this indie project is already one for the ages.

In the meantime, ConcernedApe has been looking beyond Stardew Valley since at least 2020, when he started working on a sweet shop management sim with horror elements titled Haunted Chocolatier. Announced in late 2021, the PC exclusive is still presumed to be years away from release.

Stardew Valley is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
