In the enchanting world of Stardew Valley, trees stand as serene witnesses to nature’s beauty. These valuable natural resources can be chopped down to obtain Wood which is used for construction and in crafting recipes. Common trees also yield various products like Sap, Oak Resin, Pine Tar, and Maple Syrup. Fruit trees, on the other hand, can produce one fruit per day.

An Oak tree is a common tree in Stardew Valley. It is one of the 3 kinds of sap-producing trees and is found growing throughout the Farm and different areas of the map. Here is how it grows and ways to maximize its potential on the farm.

How to Grow Oak Trees

Stardew Valley Tapping For Oak Resin

An Oak Tree is grown from an Acorn seed. When planted, an Acorn goes through four stages of growth before turning into a fully mature Oak Tree (at Stage 5).

  • Unfertilized Acorns only have a 20% chance of growing each day, and they stop growing in winter. Using the Tree Fertilizer guarantees growth by one stage each night, even during Winter.
  • Fertilized Acorns take five days to grow. The growth time for individual Oak trees may vary, but on average they take 24 days to reach peak maturity.

Where to Find Acorns

Finding an Acorn is the first step in growing an Oak Tree. Acorns can be obtained through the following ways:

Foraging

Foraging Stardew Valley

Players can get acorns by shaking or chopping down an Oak tree, once they reach Foraging Level 1. To shake a tree, players simply need to “right-click” on it. Acorns can also be found in Garbage Cans next to buildings in Pelican Town. Players can “right-click” on one to use it. Fully grown Oak trees on the Farm usually drop Acorns in their surrounding areas. These can be dug up by using an Axe or Pickaxe.

One to five acorns may also be produced when the population of fish in a Woodskip Fish Pond reaches nine.

Purchasing

Red cabbage Travelling Cart Stardew Valley

Acorns are not sold at Pierre’s General Store or the JojaMart. Players can purchase them from the Traveling Cart for 100–1000 g per seed. The Traveling Cart appears in the Cindersap Forest only on Fridays and Sundays.

Uses of Oak Trees

Mature Oak Trees can be chopped with an Axe to obtain multiple pieces of Wood, Sap, and Acorns. Players with the Lumberjack Profession can also acquire Hardwood. After a mature tree is chopped down, it leaves behind a stump. Wood and Sap can also be obtained by removing the stump with an Axe.

The Oak Trees located on the outskirts of the Farm and the Cindersap Forest respawn daily.

When tapped with a Normal or Heavy Tapper, Oak Trees yield Oak Resin. Using Normal Tappers, Oak Resin is produced every seven to eight days, while it only takes three to four days using a Heavy Tapper. This sticky resin is used in a variety of crafting recipes (including Kegs), bundles, and quests.

Stardew Valley is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
