A Stardew Valley player has pointed out that the game would hugely benefit from letting the player grow lemons. Stardew Valley's 1.6 update added a lot of new content and even some new crops to the game, but lemons weren't among them.

Stardew Valley has expanded a lot over the years, and developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has a history of listening to the game's fans. Many recommendations over the years have found their way into the game, either in a case of like minds or simple popular demand. While the curtain could finally be closing on Stardew Valley updates as the dev moves his focus to his next game, it seems fans would be delighted if at least one more variety of fruit made it to the title.

Stardew Valley Iridium Scythe Was Suggested by a Fan 3 Years Ago

A Stardew Valley player discovers that the recently added Iridium Scythe seems to be based off of one player's direct request and concept.

Now, Stardew Valley fan Adventurous_Fix1730 has pointed out that the game is sorely in need of lemons. While there are many fruit trees in the game, this isn't among them, and fans are pointing out how useful it could be if it were. As Adventurous_Fix1730 themselves pointed out, the single fruit could open up a lot of new recipe possibilities, potentially adding lemonade, pie, or lemon fish. It could also tie into existing mechanics in the game, like making lemon squash with the recently added squash plant, or lemon preserves, which could use the preserves jars in Stardew Valley.

Other fans seemed to be supportive of the idea, pointing out that the game even makes mention of lemon being part of Stardew Valley's Salmon Dinner meal, but it isn't available as an individual ingredient. The conversation included multiple additions to the game that would help to improve upon the ingredient system, with some suggesting lime trees or even avocados. Others suggested that the game could expand a bit, adding new fruit trees to the game every year instead of just for a short period of time.

Modders Add What Players Want to Stardew Valley

While it's not out of the question for lemon trees to eventually be added to the title, there's still hope for those who play the game on PC and want their lemon fix now. Several mods were recommended by players in the comments that add lemon trees, among a number of other plants and Artisan items to the game. Among these are the Raffadax mod, which has thousands of additional Artisan items for fans to create, or the Cornucopia mod, which includes numerous new crops, including a lemon tree.

While this is probably enough to satisfy many players, fans of the game on mobile and console devices would be left out in the cold. Perhaps if there is enough demand in the fanbase, another Stardew Valley update will eventually see the sour fruit added to the game.
