One of the most popular mechanics featured in Stardew Valley is the ability to court one of the many villagers of Pelican Town. There is an array of archetypes available—and even more, if players choose to install PC mods. It can be hard to decide between them, but at least Stardew Valley allows players to date multiple people at once before they lock themselves in for good.

But among the many men, women, and people of Stardew Valley, Abigail is one of the most compelling for her unique personality, quirks, and strange locations she can be found in. And spending time with Abigail in this way can reveal some interesting facts and theories about her character and past, should players choose to dig deep enough.

Abigail's Personality

Stardew Valley Abigail

Abigail is Stardew Valley's resident goth, though she doesn't lean so much toward the emo stereotype as Sebastian does. She's known to dye her hair as one of the conversation topics she approaches the player character with is whether or not she should dye her hair black. In fact, Abigail says that she once dyed her hair purple but it never faded, hinting at her possibly magical background and one of Stardew Valley's biggest mysteries, which is a big reason why players should get to know her better.

In her bedroom, Abigail has a pet guinea pig, which actually caused a small controversy within the Stardew Valley community. One Redditor brought up a slew of issues with the way Abigail was housing her guinea pig, which seemed to boil down to the developer's lack of expertise in this area. In the original design, David was held in an aquarium-style cage, whereas it should've had a C&C cage for proper ventilation. Furthermore, they went on to say that guinea pigs should be housed with other guinea pigs and should never have wheels in their cages. Eventually, this caused a change in the design to reflect the housing style, but David still lives alone.

Otherwise, Abigail's hobbies include gaming, which plays a part in one of her heart events, and being a musician. She plays the drums in Sam and Sebastian's band and she can occasionally be seen playing the flute at the mountain lake some afternoons. Likewise, she seems to enjoy spending time alone rather than with others (save for Friday nights at the Saloon with Sebastian and Sam). Abigail enjoys hanging out in the rain, showcased during her fourth heart event, and by Mona's grave, which plays a role in her sixth heart event.

If players do choose to marry Abigail in Stardew Valley, unlike other bachelors and bachelorettes that have hopes and dreams that the player is keeping them from, the marriage seems to be fulfilling to Abigail. She can feel the magic of Grandpa's Shrine, has dreamt of having a cave on her property, and enjoys the loud wilderness nights on the farm.

Abigail's Father Conspiracy

Stardew Valley Wizard Chakra

Who Abigail's father could be is one of the biggest conspiracy theories in the Stardew Valley community, and it's widely believed to be the Wizard. After building up a relationship with Pierre, he will confess his concerns that he isn't Abigail's biological father. Similarly, Caroline may mention that she used to take secret walks to the Wizard's tower, but not to tell Pierre about it because he might get jealous, insinuating that she had an affair with the Wizard.

What all but basically confirms it is the Wizard himself. He believes that one of the townsfolk is his daughter, and who else could it be but the child of the woman he had an affair with? Going back to Abigail's dyed hair, it would make sense that it retain its purple color with magic if she was the Wizard's daughter. It would also make sense that Abigail is a magical person because, as any veteran Stardew Valley player would know, she eats quartz, one of the easiest gifts to give her.

Stardew Valley is out now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
