A fan of the popular farming sim Stardew Valley has baked a cake designed to look like the beloved monster character Krobus. Nearly seven years after its release, Stardew Valley's characters still remain hugely popular online.

Of the several dozen NPCs that appear in Stardew Valley, most of them are able to be interacted with in some manner outside of talking to them. The prime form of character interaction that the player can engage in is giving gifts to them to boost their friendship level, something that is especially important for the marriage candidates in Stardew Valley. Many characters can be met by players from the start, but others require access to unlockable areas such as the desert and the sewer, the latter of which is home to the monster character Krobus.

Krobus' quirky dialogue, reclusive nature, and simplistic design have made him a favorite in some fan circles. He is the basis of a real-life birthday cake made by a fan for their child's birthday. A friend of this fan shared a photo of the cake on the subreddit r/Gaming to positive reception from fans who loved the adorable baked confection. Cakes based on Stardew Valley have been a popular choice of cake design for fans in recent years, as they allow for unique edible representations of in-game characters, items, and locations.

The user would later post an updated photo of the Krobus cake at a different angle and illuminated with red and blue candles, likely in preparation for birthday celebrations. One user in the comments mentioned the similarities Krobus holds to the Bob-omb from the Mario franchise. Baked cakes are a fitting form of Stardew Valley fan creations, as the game's Pink Cake and Chocolate Cake are among the most popular in-game food items, partially due to being one of the best items to gift in Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley's legacy has been continued by its beloved cast of strong characters. The number of details in Stardew Valley's characters from design to dialogue has ensured this continued success. This is also helped by the game's replayable nature and encouragement of player exploration. It is made all the more notable by the fact that it is an indie game developed primarily by one person, something that makes it stick out compared to other games with a similar reputation. With developer Eric Barone hard at work on his next title, Stardew Valley is sure to continue to stay relevant to the gaming community for years to come.

Stardew Valley is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
