Stardew Valley offers a diverse collection of captivating Story Quests. These quests are intricately linked to unlocking new in-game features, locations, and abilities. Completing Story Quests gradually reveals the rich backstory of Pelican Town and its inhabitants, which enhances the overall depth and immersion of the game.

However, each new quest in Stardew Valley brings its own set of challenges and difficulties. One of the more intimidating quests players face in the early stages of the game is the 'Initiation' quest – a genuine test of a player's courage and dedication in their pursuit of earning a rightful place within the esteemed Adventurer’s Guild.

How to Complete the Initiation Story Quest

The morning after players reach Level 5 in the Mines, they receive a letter in the Mailbox. This triggers the “Initiation” quest, which players must complete to enter the Adventurer’s Guild. To complete the Initiation quest, players need to slay 10 Green Slimes. These can be found crawling on Floors 1-39 of the Mines and inside the Secret Woods. However, killing green slimes found in the Secret Woods does not count for this quest.

Players can use the Rusty Sword given to them by Marlon to kill the Slimes. To best strategy for attacking Green Slimes is to corner them against a wall. Players should position their cursor over the Slime and click the left mouse button to attack. It's important to note that Slimes will attempt to inflict damage upon the player, so players should swiftly dodge or step aside when Slimes leap or lunge in their direction.

Players should bring healing food items with them to the Mines, which help to replenish depleting Health and Energy levels.

When defeated, Green Slimes may drop the following items:

  • Sap – 15% chance
  • Green Algae – 10% chance
  • Mahogany Seed – 10% chance (only in The Secret Woods)
  • Amethyst – 1.5% chance
  • Dwarf Scroll 1 – 0.5% chance
  • Dwarf Scroll 4 – 0.1% chance
  • Green Slime Egg – 1% chance (only if players have built a Slime Hutch)

Once players have killed 10 Green Slimes, they get full access to the Adventurer’s Guild. It is located just east of The Mines and is home to Marlon and Gil. Players can purchase Weapons, Boots, and Rings at the Adventurer’s Guild. They can also sell their old weapons, boots, rings, and even Monster Loot to Marlon, who would happily purchase them.

Stardew Valley is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
