There's a whole new world to explore on Ginger Island in Stardew Valley. When you've finally unlocked this area, you can meet new people and animals, create your own island farm, and even unlock new items to pick up. Some of these items you can purchase from the Island Trader in exchange for other goods.

The Island Trader, however, isn't simply unlocked the minute you arrive at Ginger Island. Instead, you'll need to provide a few items in exchange to get the Island Trader's hut built. If you're new to the area and aren't sure how you can unlock this useful feature, here's what you can do.

How to Unlock the Island Trader in Stardew Valley

To reach the Island Trader, you'll first need to arrive at Ginger Island. This area will become available to you after you complete all the Community Center Bundles or when you have completed the Joja Warehouse. Once you've done this, you'll then need to fix Willy's Boat, which you'll be introduced to the next time you visit Willy's Shop. Willy will send you a letter in the mail allowing you to visit the back room of his shop where the boat is located. To fix it, you'll need:

After you've provided all the necessary items for repair, you'll eventually be able to visit the back room and purchase a 1,000g boat ticket to get to Ginger Island. When you arrive here, you'll want to head straight into the next area. Keep straight and at the back, you'll find a parrot on a perch that you can approach. He will require you to give him 10 Golden Walnuts in order to build the trading hut. When you've provided the required amount, the shop will immediately unlock, and you'll have full access to it.

Golden Walnuts can be found all over the island, with 130 in total. The best way to go about tracking them down is to visit Leo's home, found in the eastern section of Ginger Island. Inside, there will be a parrot that can provide you with hints on where to find some of the Golden Walnuts.
