While players can catch many fish in Stardew Valley with a regular fishing rod, Shrimps require a slightly different approach. These little creatures are too agile and small to be caught on a hook, but are very valuable for cooking and making some clothing. Unfortunately, for some reason, most NPCs in the gaming world don't like it, so giving it as a friendly or romantic gift is not the best decision. But you should still get a little for yourself.

The main way to get Shrimp in Stardew Valley is to use Crab Pots because, like crabs, driven by curiosity and the smell of bait, they swim into a trap without thinking about the consequences. However, even though this method is the simplest, it is not the only one. And we are going to tell you about all the intricacies of the shrimp business.

How To Catch Shrimps in Stardew Valley

Crab Pot in Stardew Valley

To get Shrimps in Stardew Valley, you can use one of three methods:

The first method of obtaining is the best in terms of efficiency and simplicity. All you have to do is place the Crab Pot anywhere with Saltwater and wait a bit. Of course, in addition to Shrimp, you can catch sea creatures such as Oysters, Mussels, Lobsters, and Crabs. But since Shrimp swim into the trap at any time of the year, you will have plenty of time to try. As for creating a Crab Pot, you only need to reach Fishing Level 3, after which you can buy it from Willy's Fish Shop for 1,500g or craft it using the following materials:

  • x40 Wood
  • x3 Iron Bar
  • x25 Wood
  • x2 Copper Bar

The second method is much simpler but more expensive. Checking Traveling Cart is a good solution if you only need a few Shrimps. Eventually, 180 - 1,000g is not that high price if you are rushing. But if you need more, use the first method or go straight to the third.

The third method is to breed Shrimp in a Fish Pond. Since this creature is a fish, you only need to place two of them in the Fish Pond and wait two days before they give birth. The starting Fish Pond only holds three fish, so we recommend upgrading it as quickly as possible for more efficient farming.

How To Use Shrimps in Stardew Valley

Shrimps in Stardew Valley

Like other fish, you won't be able to eat Shrimps right after you catch them. Besides, these creatures are not the best gift for any NPC. But you can still use them in the following ways:

  • You can cook this seafood by making Shrimp Cocktails, Tom Kha Soup, Maki Rolls, or Sashimi.
  • Also, you can use them on the Sewing Machine to create a Sailor Shirt.
  • If you have some extra Shrimp left, you can sell them for 60-90g, depending on your Fishing level.
