In Stardew Valley, an Ice Rod is a Trinket item that allows you to unleash an ice orb on your enemies. This orb has the unique ability to momentarily freeze any monsters, thus helping you in combat encounters. However, as mentioned above, this item isn't immediately accessible, and you will need to unlock Combat Mastery first.

How to Unlock Combat Mastery

You can unlock Combat Mastery within the Mastery Cave. However, to access the Cave, you must first max out all five skills in the game: Farming, Fishing, Foraging, Combat, and Mining.

To level up your skills, engage in activities that correspond to each skill. As you keep doing these tasks, you'll earn more experience points and your skill bar will fill up.

Once you've maxed out all your skills, head to the Cindersap Forest and locate the Mastery Cave. Inside, you'll find five different totems, related to each Mastery skill. Look out for the Combat Mastery and unlock it through your Mastery Points. Remember that you will need 10,000 Mastery Points to unlock this mastery.

Additionally, there's a rare chance to discover an Ice Rod from treasure chests specifically found in the Skull Cavern.
