Stardew Valley: How to Get Anvil

Mastery Cave in Stardew Valley

To make Anvil, you first need to get its recipe, which requires a lot of time and effort. Anvil recipe is a Combat Mastery reward that you can get by visiting the Mastery Cave in Cindersap Forest. But it's not that simple because to get access to the cave, you will first need to reach the maximum level of all five skills:

  • Farming
  • Mining
  • Foraging
  • Fishing
  • Combat

The maximum level of each of the skills is 10, which requires 15,000 XP to achieve. You can gain experience for each of the skills by simply completing the tasks related to them, for example, for Combat you will need to kill monsters. The best method would be to explore caves and look for enemies there. In addition, you will also have to accumulate 1 skill point to exchange it for a reward. To get it, you will need to accumulate a certain amount of experience.

For example, to get the first Mastery Point, you will have to accumulate 10,000 XP, and for each subsequent one, this number will be higher. Compared to reaching the maximum level of all skills, this is easier to do because now all the experience that previously increased the level of skill is converted into experience to get a Mastery Point.

Once you get the Anvil recipe, the last thing to do is to find 50 Iron Bars. After completing all the above steps, find a spot where you want to place the Anvil and build it.

Stardew Valley: How to Use Anvil

Fairy Box in Stardew Valley

In general, Anvil is needed only to change the stats of your Trinkets. It can both improve and worsen the stats, as the result of forging is random. Basically, you are re-rolling the stats of your Trinkets and if you are lucky, they will become better.

Take for example the Fairy Box, a Trinket that summons a fairy companion of a certain level that will help you in battle and heal you. The level of the summoned fairy can be the third, but you can change it by using Anvil. To perform the re-forge, you will also need x3 Iridium Bars. Regardless of the Trinket, the cost will always be the same. Then, having collected all the necessary resources, interact with Anvil, select the Trinket whose stats you want to change, and start forging. As a result, you will get the same Fairy Box, but now the level of the fairy can be, for example, fourth or higher, if you are lucky, or second or first if you are unlucky.
