The enchanting world of Stardew Valley, where farming is a way of life, would be incomplete without vibrant farm animals and livestock. Animals make the virtual farm feel more alive and immersive, enhancing the overall gaming experience. From loyal pets to resourceful livestock, players have a variety of farm animals to choose from.

In Stardew Valley, Nurturing farm animals is the best way to acquire fresh produce, such as eggs and milk, that can be sold for profit. Most farm animals require a specific building to house them. Therefore, animals in Stardew Valley have been divided into two categories: Coop Animals and Barn Animals.

How to Get All Coop Animals

A Coop is a type of farm building that players can purchase from Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop. It can be upgraded to a Big Coop or a Deluxe Coop. The total building cost for a Basic Coop is 4,000g. Upgrade it to a Big Coop costs 10,000g and to a Deluxe Coop costs 20,000g. The following animals can be housed inside a Coop.

Chicken

Chickens are small, feathered farm animals that lay eggs every day as they grow happier. They can be purchased from Marnie’s Ranch for 800g. Chickens can also be hatched from Eggs by placing them in an Incubator.

Chickens are available in White, Brown, and Blue colors. The blue variety can only be obtained if players have unlocked Shane’s eight-heart event. Brown chickens lay brown eggs, whereas white and blue chickens produce white eggs. Regular white/brown eggs can be sold for 50g, while Large white/brown eggs can be sold for 95g.

Duck

Ducks are water-loving birds that live inside a Big Coop. They lay eggs every other day when happy, and are often found swimming in water bodies around the farm. Players can purchase Ducks from Marnie’s Ranch for 1,200g. They can also be hatched by placing a Duck Egg inside an Incubator.

Ducks produce Duck Eggs which players can sell for 95g and Duck Feathers, which can be sold for 250g.

Rabbit

Rabbits are soft, fluffy creatures that live inside a Deluxe Coop. Players can purchase Rabbits from Marnie’s Ranch for 8,000g. Mature and fed rabbits shed Wool every 4 days, which can be sold for 340g. On reaching sufficient happiness, rabbits may produce a Rabbit’s Foot which has a base sell price of 565g.

Dinosaur

Dinosaurs are unique farm animals that live in a Big Coop. They can not be purchased from Marnie’s Ranch. Dinosaurs can be obtained by hatching Dinosaur Eggs using an Incubator. A Dinosaur Egg takes approximately 12 in-game days to incubate. Mature and well-fed dinosaurs produce valuable Dinosaur Eggs every 7 days, which can be sold for 350g.

How to Get All Barn Animals

A Barn is a type of farm building that players can purchase from Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop. It can be upgraded to a Big Barn or a Deluxe Barn.

The total building cost for a Basic Barn is 6,000g. Upgrade it to a Big Barn costs 12,000g and to a Deluxe Barn costs 25,000g. The following animals can be housed inside a Barn.

Cow

Cows are iconic farm animals and are typically housed in a Barn. Players can purchase a cow from Marnie’s Ranch for 1,500g. There are two varieties of cows available: white cows and brown cows. Adult cows produce Milk every day. The color of the Milk does not vary depending on the color of the Cow. On reaching sufficient happiness, Cows start producing Large Milk. A Milk Pail is required to collect the Milk from a Cow.

Regular Milk sells for 125g , while Large Milk can be sold for 190g .

Goat

Goats are playful farm animals that live inside a Big Barn. They can be purchased from Marnie’s Ranch for 4,000g. Mature and well-fed goats produce Goat Milk every 2 days, which can be sold for 225g. When they reach sufficient happiness, Goats start producing Large Goat Milk, which has a base sell price of 345g. Similar to Cow Milk, Goat Milk can also be collected using a Milk Pail.

Sheep

Sheep are gentle and cuddly farm animals that need to be housed inside a Deluxe Barn. Players can purchase them at Marnie’s Ranch for 8,000g. Adult sheep can be shorn for Wool. A pair of Shears can be purchased from Marnie’s Ranch for 1,000g. A mature sheep’s wool coat fully grows every 3 days, if it has at least 70 happiness points. Wool has a base sell price of 340g.

Pig

Pigs are delightful farm animals renowned for their truffle-hunting abilities. They require a Deluxe Barn to reside in. Players can purchase pigs from Marnie’s Ranch for 16,000g. If all the conditions are met, a mature and well-fed pig digs up Truffles every day. These gourmet mushrooms have a unique taste and can be sold for 625g.

Ostrich

Ostriches are majestic egg-laying birds that can be housed in a Barn. They can not be purchased from Marnie’s Ranch. Ostriches can be obtained by hatching Ostrich Eggs using an Ostrich Incubator. An Ostrich Egg takes approximately 9 in-game days to incubate. A mature and fed Ostrich can produce an Ostrich Egg every 7 days. These can be used to hatch another Ostrich or sold for 600g.
