Fried Calamari is one of the many dishes players can cook in Stardew Valley. The recipe for this delicious seafood dish is obtained from Jodi, a villager who lives at 1 Willow Lane. She sends the recipe via Mail once players have a three-heart friendship with her.

Fried Calamari is a crisp, savory dish made from Squid, Wheat Flour, and Oil. Players can consume it for a subtle boost to their farmer’s health and energy levels or give it to Pierre as a gift. Pierre is the owner of the General Store in Pelican Town and Fried Calamari happens to be his only loved gift – apart from the Universal Loves in Stardew Valley.

How to Cook Fried Calamari

To cook Fried Calamari in Stardew Valley, players must first upgrade their farmhouse to include a Kitchen. Next, they need to gather the necessary ingredients.

Catching Squid

Squids are sea creatures found deep within the oceans of Stardew Valley. Players can head over to The Beach to try their luck at catching Squid. Additionally, players may be able to reel in Squids on the Beach Farm Map. The best time to catch a Squid is between 6 PM to 2 AM during Winter.

Using the Magic Bait enables players to catch Squid, regardless of the season or time of day.

Squid can also be purchased from the Traveling Cart, where the price ranges from 240 to 1,000 gold. They can sometimes be found in Garbage Cans during Winter.

Getting Wheat Flour

Wheat Flour is a common cooking ingredient that can be purchased all year round from the General Store for 100g or from JojaMart for 125g.

Additionally, players can craft their own Wheat Flour by placing Wheat inside a Mill. A Mill can be purchased from Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop for 2,500g. The building materials required are 4 Cloth, 50 Stones, and 150 Wood. It takes one night for Wheat to be processed into Wheat Flour.

Making Oil

How to make and use and oil maker in Stardew Valley

It’s convenient to purchase cooking Oil from Pierre’s General Store for 200 gold. However, if players want to make it from scratch, they need access to an Oil Maker. The crafting recipe for the Oil Maker is obtained when players reach Farming Level 8. It requires 50 Slimes, 20 Hardwood, and 1 Gold Bar.

An Oil Maker can transform Corn, Sunflowers, and Sunflower Seeds into all-purpose cooking Oil. The processing time varies depending on the ingredient used. Once players have all the ingredients, they should head over to the Kitchen and click on the Stove. Selecting the icon for Fried Calamari cooks the dish and adds it to the player’s Inventory.

Stardew Valley is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
