Stardew Valley is a farming simulation game that emphasizes raising animals, crafting items, fishing, and cultivating crops. Additionally, it allows players to engage with the local community in Pelican Town and participate in lots of fun-filled activities and thrilling quests.

In addition to early quests like Jedi's Story and locating Robin's lost axe in Stardew Valley, players will also come across the Rat Problem Quest. While it is quite simple and straightforward, completing this quest is essential for players to unlock the Community Center and gain access to the Wizard. This guide aims to walk players through completing this quest successfully.

The Rat Problem Quest

The Community Center is an old and shabby building located north of Pierre’s General Store. Players can access this building by entering Pelican Town from the Bus Stop, between 08:00 am and 01:00 pm, on any sunny day starting from Spring 5th onward. This triggers a short cutscene with Mayor Lewis, where he unlocks the Community Centre and guides the player inside.

The Community Centre is crawling with strange creatures called “Junimos” who quickly hide before the Mayor can see them. The Mayor suspects that the place is “full of rats” and informs the player that the building will stay unlocked in the future. The Rat Problem quest is unlocked when the cut-scene ends.

Entering town from any other direction at any other time, or on rainy days will not trigger the cutscene.

How to Complete the “Rat Problem” Quest

The Rat Problem Quest informs players about something odd happening in the Community Centre and urges them to go investigate it. To solve this quest, players need to enter the Community Centre again. They need to navigate to the Crafts Room (the lower left room of the building) and examine the Golden Scroll found on the floor. The text on the scroll is complete gibberish, but reading it ends this quest. Players can head back home and go to sleep to save their progress.

The next morning, players receive their reward: a letter from the Wizard.

Meet the Wizard Quest

In the letter, The Wizard informs players that he has information about the “rat problem” and offers to help. He asks players to pay a visit to his tower. After players finish reading the letter, a new quest is unlocked with the objective “Meet the Wizard”.

Players need to head over to The Wizard’s Tower, located at the west end of Cindersap Forest. The Wizard gives players a potion that grants them the ability to read the Junimo language. This enables them to understand the text written on the Golden Scrolls found inside the Community Centre.

Each scroll asks for specific offerings from the Junimos in the form of Bundles. When a bundle is complete, the Junimos offer the player a reward. Players must complete all the bundles to restore the Community Centre to its former glory.

Stardew Valley is available now for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
