Just like many of the recipes found in Stardew Valley, you'll need to go out of your way to find the recipe for Chocolate Cake. You won't find it in your mailbox one morning from a friend or through a completed quest. Instead, you'll need to use a method you might not yet be aware of.

Luckily, for those who are really looking to add this item to their recipe list, you won't need to jump through too many hoops to obtain it. You'll need Chocolate Cake to create a Party Hat or complete Haley's 14-heart event. Here's how you can make your own Chocolate Cake.

How to Unlock the Chocolate Cake Recipe in Stardew Valley

For those looking to specifically get the recipe for Chocolate Cake, you will first need to make sure you either have a TV in your house, or you can visit someone else's house with a TV in their living room.

When you've found a TV, turn it on by approaching it, and there will be a few channels you can choose from. You will want to select 'The Queen of Sauce', a cooking channel that provides you with new recipes. Here are the specific days when the Chocolate Cake recipe will be available:

  • Winter 14, Year 1
  • Winter 14, Year 3 and onward

If you are currently in Year 2, you will unfortunately need to wait until Year 3 rolls around because the recipe available on the 14th of Winter will be for Lobster Bisque. Every year after Year 2 will show reruns, so Year 3 will make the Chocolate Cake recipe available again on Winter 14. Once you have the recipe available, you will need these ingredients:

  • 1x Wheat Flour
  • 1x Sugar
  • 1x Egg

You can purchase Wheat Flour and Sugar from Pierre's General Store or JojaMart, or you can craft them using a Mill. Eggs can be obtained from any White, Brown, or Blue Chickens that you are raising within a Coop on your farm.

If you still haven't unlocked the recipe for Chocolate Cake but you need the item immediately, there are a few other ways you can pick it up. Here are the other locations where you can find the tasty treat:

You can find Krobus' Shop within the Sewers once you've unlocked the area. As for the Vault Room in the Community Center, all you will need to do to complete the 2,500 Bundle is offer up 2,500g to receive 3 Chocolate Cakes in return.

Chocolate Cake Uses in Stardew Valley

Outside of just being used as a sweet snack for your character to consume, the Chocolate Cake can be used for a few other things. This includes:

  • Party Hat (blue)
  • Haley's 14-heart Event
  • Gifting

The Blue Party Hat will require one Chocolate Cake and one piece of Cloth to create using the Sewing Machine. You can also gift Chocolate Cake to some of the villagers, with Abigail, Evelyn, and Jodi liking the item the most. Also, if you're trying to complete all of Haley's heart events, you will need to gift her a Chocolate Cake during her 14-heart event. You can also sell Chocolate Cakes, with the item going for 200g and 300g if you use Qi Seasoning.
