Even though the main essence of fishing is to catch fish, this type of activity can bring many other benefits in the form of Treasure Chests. These chests can contain dozens of helpful materials that would be much more difficult to obtain in other ways, but unfortunately, the chance of catching this reward is only 15%. Luckily, Magnet can increase this by up to 30%, and we'll tell you how to get it in Stardew Valley.

The bad news is that Magnet's price and unlocking requirements are relatively high, but the good news is that you can get it in many ways, so everyone can find a path to their liking.

Where to Get Magnet in Stardew Valley

Magnet in Stardew Valley

To get Magnet in Stardew Valley, players must reach at least Fishing Level 9. Once you meet this requirement, you will be able to obtain this bait in one of the following ways:

  • Craft from Iron Bar.
  • Buy from some merchants.
  • Receive as a reward during the festivals.

The first method is the most effective and budget-friendly, so we recommend starting with it. Once you reach Fishing Level 9, you can create 3 Magnets by spending just 1 Iron Bar. As for the Iron Bar, you can craft it in a Furnace using 5 Iron Ore and 1 Coal. Considering that you can easily farm Iron Ore below the 41st floor of the mine, you can accumulate tons of this resource. However, even if you decide to buy all the ingredients from Blacksmith, the cost of creating one Magnet will still be 300g in the first year and 500 in the 2+ years.

The second method is suitable if you urgently need to get several Magnets. Players can purchase Magnet from Willy's Fish Shop for 1,000g or from the Casino for 1,000 Qi coins. Although Qi coins are valued higher than regular money, regular wins at Casino can make purchasing Magnet almost free. Alternatively, you can buy this bait from the Krobus shop for 200g on Wednesdays or from the Traveling Cart for 100-1,000g.

Finally, you can get Magnet as a random reward if you love in-game events. During Feast of the Winter Star, you can receive a Magnet from a secret gift-giver. Additionally, you can get it from Willy during the Festival of Ice. But these methods are more like nice bonuses than working strategies for getting Magnets.

How to Use Magnet in Stardew Valley

Magnet in Stardew Valley

Once you get Magnet, the first thing you'll have to accept is that you won't be able to use it with the Training Rod and the Bamboo Pole. This elite bait is only compatible with Fiberglass or Iridium Rods, but this should not be a problem at Fishing Level 9.

Equipping Magnet as a regular bait increases the chance of finding treasure chests by 15%. Thus, your base chance of obtaining this catch will be as much as 30%, which will significantly speed up the getting of resources obtained from this catch.
