There are a few methods you can use to increase the chances of getting a River Jelly on your line, especially since they are a rare find. If you're looking to add this fish to your collection, or to make your own Fish Smoker, here's how you can get it.

Where to Find River Jelly in Stardew Valley

Unlike Sea Jellies, you can only find River Jellies within river locations in Pelican Town. Going to the beach near Willy's Shop will only give you Sea Jellies, so make sure to stick to the river that runs through the town.

There's no specific location on the river where River Jellies more frequently appear, so you can choose any location you prefer. Keep in mind that all jellies are very rare, so it will take a bit of time before you get one on your line.

Since River Jellies are incredibly rare, they won't appear very often on your fishing rod. In this case, there are a few baits and tackles you can use to speed up the process. We recommend:

  • Bait: Bait or Deluxe Bait
  • Tackle: Dressed Spinner

As always, it's a good idea to have some Bait readily available to attach to your fishing rod. You can now also get or make Deluxe Bait, which increases the speed that fish bite, and increases the size of the fishing bar. Along with some Deluxe Bait, you can add a Dressed Spinner to your rod, which uses colorful streamers to attract fish, therefore increasing the bite-rate. Without these two items, fish would much less frequently get hooked on your line, therefore adding additional time to your fishing trip.

It is also recommended that you seek out areas in the river that have bubbling spots. These will have many more fish, therefore increasing your chance of getting a River Jelly on your line. These often refresh, so if you can't find any, one will for sure pop up eventually.

How to Use River Jelly

Once you have a River Jelly in your possession, you might be wondering what you can use it for. There are a few different ways you can use it, including:

  • Sell for 125 g (Cannot be sold to Willy)
  • Use to make a Fish Smoker (10 Hardwood, one Sea Jelly, one River Jelly, one Cave Jelly)
  • Use in a Fish Pond quest for Midnight Carps to increase the amount of fish from five to 10

If you'd prefer to sell your River Jelly, you can add it to your Shipping Bin and receive 125 g. Remember that it cannot be sold to Willy in his shop, since jellies are not technically considered fish. Another great thing you can use it for is to craft your own Fish Smoker, which is an item that can smoke your fish and increase their selling value. Finally, you can consume the River Jelly as well, and it'll increase your Max Energy by 30, provide 75 Energy, and 33 Health.
