Stardew Valley begins with the protagonist inheriting a farm from their deceased grandfather. While adapting to their life in the countryside, players can unlock new areas to explore, wherein they can obtain skills and materials. Doing this opens up a world of new cooking and crafting recipes to experiment with.

In Stardew Valley, crafting is the process of creating a new item by following a specific recipe. The recipes involve everyday materials that are used to craft in-game tools, structures, and other unique items. One such ingredient involved in crafting is the Oak Resin. Being sticky in nature, it is used for various purposes, from crafting to tailoring.

How To Get Oak Resin Stardew Valley

Tappers Stardew Valley

Extracting Oak Resin is a straightforward process that involves collecting it from Oak Trees. Regardless of these trees growing on The Farm or being tucked within the Cindersap Forest, it’s still possible for players to harvest Oak Resin from them. However, the resin extraction requires the use of a Tapper, Refining Equipment that players can craft once they reach the third level of Farming Skill.

Upon reaching the desired level in Farming, crafting a Tapper only demands 40 Wood and 2 Copper Bars. Players can then place the Tapper on any Oak Tree that’s easily accessible to them. It takes about 1 in-game week using a Normal Tapper and 3 nights using a Heavy variant of the Tapper for the Oak Resin to be extracted completely. The Oak Resin can be collected by interacting with the tree when the Tapper shows the Oak Resin icon.

Players should make sure the Oak Trees they plan to extract Oak Resin from are close to their homes. This will make the process of farming Oak Resin a little faster.

Other Ways To Acquire Oak Resin

While Tappers are the most reliable way of getting Oak Resin in Stardew Valley, there are other less effective ways for players to get their hands on the resource. One such way is to kill Haunted Skulls in the Mines. These skulls are located in the Quarry Cave or deep within the Mines in the dungeon levels and have an Oak Resin drop rate of 1.3%.

Occasionally, there’s a 0.66% chance that the Wood Chipper may give players an Oak Resin or Tree Sap when they deposit a piece of Hardwood into it.

Given its versatile applications, Oak Resins remains a sought-after item year-round. Since the resource can also be collected in Winter, players should take that as an opportunity to create more items or sell the resin to make a quick profit.

Crafting Recipes

Oak Resin is essentially used in two crafting recipes, namely Deluxe Speed-Gro and Kegs, both of which require players to have Farming Level 8.

  • The Deluxe Speed-Gro is made using 1 Oak Resin and 1 Coral. It stimulates leaf production and increases the growth of crops by 25%.
  • Kegs are the best item to craft with Oak Resins and should be a part of every player’s inventory. They are made using 30 Wood, 1 Copper Bar, 1 Iron Bar, and 1 Oak Resin. Kegs are used to make beverages like Wine and Coffee, which can be sold for Gold.

Bundles And Quests

Furthermore, Oak Resin is also a key component in two bundles in the Community Center, the Enchanter’s Bundle on the Bulletin Board and the Exotic Foraging Bundle in the Crafts Room.
