Cows in Stardew Valley are endearing, productive, and essential additions to the farm. They’re a valuable source of Milk. When cows are content and well-fed, they can even produce Large Milk, a higher-quality version that sells for more than regular milk. How to Get Large Milk in Stardew Valley

The ability of Cows to produce Large Milk is influenced by two critical factors: their Mood and Friendship Levels. Only Cows with 200 or higher Friendship points can produce Large Milk. This requirement reflects the strong bond developed between the players and the animals on their farm. The Friendship and Mood ratings can be seen by right-clicking on the animal after petting it.

To nurture a positive Friendship with their livestock, players should:

Players can lose Friendship points with a Cow if:

  • It is not fed (-20 points)
  • It is trapped outside overnight (-20 points)
  • It is not pet/talked to (-5 to -10 points)

A Cow’s mood can be increased if it’s well-fed, regularly petted, and allowed to eat grass outside. Additionally, during winter, the presence of a heater in the barn contributes to a boost in a cow's mood. The highest attainable mood value for a cow is 225.

Additionally, Large Milk is occasionally available for purchase at The Traveling Cart’s rotating stock for 570 to 1,000 gold.

Uses of Large Milk

Large Milk can be used in the production of Cheese, an Artisan Product. Regular milk consistently produces normal-quality cheese when processed in a Cheese Press, whereas Large Milk results in an immediate production of high-quality, gold-tier cheese. Gold-star Cheese is worth 345 gold, making it a valuable asset on the farm.

Large Milk can be used as a substitute for Milk, Goat Milk, or Large Goat Milk in all cooking recipes. It is also required to complete the Animal Bundle in the Pantry.
