In the realm of Stardew Valley, mastering the art of farming and mining is essential for prosperity. The Mines are filled with hidden treasures, ranging from different types of stones, geodes, and minerals. Players can use a Pickaxe or a Hoe to break rocks in these Mines and collect raw materials.
In Stardew Valley, Tilling in the Mines yields clay and metal ores – either of Copper, Iron, Gold, or Iridium quality. The metal ores can be smelted in a Furnace to create Bars, which are then used to upgrade tools and craft a variety of items. Gold Bars can only be created using Gold Ores.
Where to Find Gold Ore in Stardew Valley
Here are some of the best ways for players to get their hands on Gold Ore in Stardew Valley.
- Gold Ores can be primarily obtained by mining Gold Nodes in the Mines. These are available on levels 80+ of the Mines and the Skull Caverns. Players can also find Gold Ores by breaking boxes and barrels in the Mines. Ghosts on levels 51-79 of the Mines have a 20% chance of dropping 1–3 Gold Ores when defeated.
- Players can also purchase Gold Ores from the Blacksmith for 400 g each in Year 1. However, the price increases to 750 g each from Year 2+. Gold Ores are occasionally sold at the Traveling Cart for 100–1,000 g.
- Gold Ores are also found inside Frozen Geodes, Magma Geodes, or Omni Geodes. Players can find them inside Fishing Treasure Chests and by Panning as well. Furthermore, when a Lava Eel Fish Pond reaches a population of 3 or more, it produces Gold Ores.
- There is a 4% chance of getting 1–3 Gold Ores if players dig up Artifact Spots at The Beachfront.
Players can double their chances of finding an artifact by using a Hoe with the Archaeologist enchantment.
How to Make Gold Bars in Stardew Valley
There are various ways to create Gold Bars in Stardew Valley.
- One method to create a Gold Bar is by smelting 5 Gold Ore in a Furnace using 1 Coal for fuel. The smelting process takes approximately 5 in-game hours to be completed.
- The other way to create Gold Bars is by transmuting 2 Iron Bars into one Gold Bar. Players can earn the Transmute (Au) recipe upon reaching Mining Level 7.
- Monsters in the Mines can also drop Gold Bars when defeated. There's a 0.1% chance for Dust Sprites, a 5% chance for Squid Kids, and a 1% chance each for Shadow Brutes and Shadow Shamans to drop Gold Bars. Players can also dig up Gold Bars in the Mines at levels 41-80. However, the chances of this happening are quite slim.
- Additionally, players can find Gold Bars in the Garbage Can located next to the Blacksmith’s Shop. This is only possible after players have unlocked the Furnace blueprint. On completing the Enchanter’s Bundle on the Bulletin Board, players are rewarded with Five Gold Bars.
