Fruit trees in Stardew Valley are a valuable and long-term investment for the farm. Among these, the Apple Trees stand out with their vibrant green leaves. When they bear fruit in the Fall, Apple Trees are adorned with red apples hanging from their branches. This not only adds an aesthetic charm to the game but also offers players a steady supply of crisp and delicious Apples.

Freshly picked Apples play an essential role in the farming experience. They can be consumed for a slight boost to the player’s Energy and Health or turned into Artisan Products that players can sell to make quick profits in Stardew Valley.

How to Grow an Apple Tree in Stardew Valley

To grow an Apple tree on the farm, players need an Apple Sapling. It is available for purchase at Pierre’s General Store and costs 4,000 gold. Apple Saplings are not sold at JojaMart but are occasionally found at the Traveling Cart, where their price can range from 3,000 to 5,000 gold. Additionally, players may find them inside treasure rooms in the Skull Cavern.

In Stardew Valley, Apple Trees can only grow in a 3x3 grid, where each square is completely free of debris, flooring, and terrain elements, such as grass. The 3x3 grid around an Apple Tree must not intersect the 3x3 grid of another Fruit Tree. If all the squares in the grid are green, the Apple Sapling can be planted in that area.

When planted on untilled soil, an Apple Sapling takes 28 days to grow into a mature Apple Tree. It goes through five stages to fully grow into an Apple tree. Players should plant Fall Fruit Trees, such as the Apple Tree, no later than the 1st of Summer. This ensures the tree has enough time to reach maturity and can produce fruit for the whole season.

If they’re planted inside a Greenhouse, Apple Trees will produce Apples all year round.

Unfortunately, there is no way to speed up the growth stages of an Apple tree. Neither the Tree Fertilizer nor the Speed-Gro can be used to shorten the time it takes for an Apple Tree to mature. While players wait patiently for the Apple Tree to fully grow, they must ensure that there is no debris surrounding the fruit tree. This includes logs, weeds, rocks, and even truffles dug up by pigs.

If a player goes to sleep with objects near the Apple tree, a notification will be received the next day, reading: "Your Apple Tree was unable to grow last night." This simply means that the tree will take one day longer to reach maturity and start producing Apples.

Once the Apple Tree has fully grown, the 3x3 grid around does not have to be kept clear.

How to Get Apples in Stardew Valley

In the Fall, Apple Trees produce one Apple per day. To gather these Apples, players should right-click the base of the Apple Tree, which shakes the tree, causing the Apples to fall down. Each tree can hold a maximum of three fruits at any given time.

If a player doesn't collect Apples during the first two days of Fall, they can harvest three fruits on the third day. However, it's important to note that once three fruits are stacked on the tree, it will not produce more until those existing Apples are collected. For the Apple Tree to produce the maximum amount of Apples, players should harvest fruit from them at least every three days.

If the Apple tree is struck by lightning during a storm in Stardew Valley , it will produce Coal for 4 days instead of Apples.
