Stardew Valley is famous for its memorable cast of characters, and one player chose to show their appreciation by meticulously recreating Haley's sprite in Minecraft. Though the gameplay loop of farming and exploring the mines in Stardew Valley is addictive, it's usually the NPCs of Pelican Town that pull people in on a first playthrough. Getting to know their routines, as well as their likes and dislikes, lets Stardew Valley players befriend and even marry them, if they're an eligible bachelor or bachelorette.

Outside of mods such as Stardew Valley Expanded, the default game has six eligible bachelors and six eligible bachelorettes in Pelican Town. The player character can pursue them regardless of gender, though after a certain point, they will be prompted to choose one partner and commit to the relationship. Continuing to date all eligible bachelors or bachelorettes in Stardew Valley may end up causing a certain scene to take place at either the Stardrop Salloon or at Haley and Emily's house, and unless the player has a Rabbit's Foot on them, it will have bad consequences.

As it happens, Haley is one of the marriage candidates in Stardew Valley, and her personal character arc subverts the popular girl trope in a way that quietly made her one of the favorites in the Stardew Valley community. A player named grieving_gecko made a tribute to Haley in Minecraft by building the entirety of her character sprite from Stardew Valley using Minecraft's building blocks. This statue stands at 26 blocks tall, and manages to accurately recreate the colors of her original model.

Though other players from the thread gave grieving_gecko praise, they also wondered if other NPCs from Stardew Valley would soon follow. Of course, this isn't the first time Minecraft was used to recreate the villagers of Pelican Town, as no less than a year ago, a Stardew Valley player built Penny in Minecraft at an imposing level of scale.

While there are many factors that turned Stardew Valley into the indie powerhouse it's known as today, the memorable NPCs have certainly played a major role in making players fall in love with the game. As ConcernedApe continues his long development of Haunted Chocolatier, fans can't help but wonder about its own roster of characters. Though it will be a markedly different game from Stardew Valley, Haunted Chocolatier will still retain much of the same charm that its predecessor is known for. Hopefully, players will find new favorites among its cast the same way they flocked to characters such as Haley or Krobus.

Stardew Valley is available for PC, Mobile, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
