In Stardew Valley, players will have to collect resources to make crafts, buildings, trade for money and goods, as well as gift to NPCs. One very important Stardew Valley crafting material is cloth, and players will want to know how to get their hands on it.

Cloth in Stardew Valley

While cloth is not required for any quests in Stardew Valley so far, it is used in a lot of different crafts. Players will need cloth in order to create clothing, make Dressed Spinner fish lures, buy a mill, and can be given as gifts to several townsfolk. While there are several NPCs that "Like" cloth as a gift, the only one who "Loves" cloth is Emily, who is a fan-favorite, best romance option in Stardew Valley.

One cloth is required for every single article of clothing that can be tailored in Stardew Valley; recipes for different clothing usually include another item, like an opal, fairy stone, or even a cake. When mixed with one cloth, these items can turn into different colored and patterned shirts for players to wear.

How to get Cloth in Stardew Valley

Cloth can be gotten from several sources in Stardew Valley, including:

  • From putting wool in a Loom
  • Recycling Soggy Newspaper in a Recycling Machine
  • Loot from Mummies, found in the Skull Cavern
  • Gifts from Emily
  • Purchased from the Desert Trader of Stardew Valley's Calico Desert for 3 Aquamarines

How to Get Cloth from a Loom in Stardew Valley

How to get Cloth in Stardew Valley

Players will first need both a loom and some wool in order to start creating their own cloth. This is the best source of cloth since it allows players to grow their own at home in the form of Stardew Valley's farm animals. Both sheep and rabbits grow fur that can be sheared every three to four days for wool, depending on feeding schedule and the animal's happiness level. Once players have obtained some wool from their animals, they will need to craft a Loom to turn it into cloth.

In order to build a Loom, players will need a few materials:

  • Farming Level 7 will give players the Loom recipe
  • 60 Wood
  • 30 Fiber
  • 1 Pine Tar

Once created and loaded up with wool, a loom will create one to two cloth in four hours. Players can increase the chance of getting two cloth each time by increasing the quality of the wool. While the other methods of getting them might help out when trying to get wool and cloth in larger numbers, farming it with rabbits and sheep will give players the best output, especially if they can afford to make several looms and keep several animals of each types in their fields.
