Encountered later in the game, the Desert Trader is a new merchant offering a variety of useful and exotic items through bartering. However, she doesn’t accept Gold and instead encourages you to trade valuables like Omni Geode, Diamond, and Ruby. This Stardew Valley guide provides comprehensive information about the Desert Trader, beginning with a brief explanation of how to unlock her.

Of all the completionist challenges in Stardew Valley, crafting every single item at least once may be the hardest.

How to Unlock the Desert Trader

You can access the Desert Trader by repairing the bus. To do so, you must either complete all Vault Bundles at the Community Center or pay 40,000g to Joja Community Development Projects. Both methods cost about the same. However, the latter, working with Joja projects, unlocks the Desert instantly.

After gaining access to the Calico Desert, take the bus to visit the Desert Trader. You'll find her near the bus stop, situated next to the camel within the tent.

Best Buys From the Desert Trader

left to right: desert trader, qi's walnut room, galaxy sword

As a barter, the Desert Trader is not the ideal merchant in Stardew Valley. Most of her permanent items are abundant in your inventory by the time you unlock the Desert. However, out of her offers, the following are worth the price: Artifact Trove, Warp Totem Recipe, and the Void Ghost Pendant.

The Void Ghost Pendant is a specialty item requiring a set of prerequisites. To unlock this item, you must be single and increase your friendship level with Krobus to the maximum.
