Donating to the Museum in Stardew Valley is an important part of building Pelican Town to its full potential. You'll find yourself adventuring through the mines, desert, and more, picking up a bunch of rare items that might not initially mean much to you but are worth a lot to Gunther.

Artifacts, in particular, are much less eye-catching than gems but are usually just as valuable. You might stumble across a Rusty Spoon or even an Ancient Doll, and sometimes something as simple as a Chicken Statue. There are 42 artifacts to discover; we will go over the location of each one so you can complete the Museum collection.

What Are Artifacts in Stardew Valley?

Artifacts are important items in Stardew Valley that you can use to donate to the Museum to increase its collection. Though Artifacts usually appear as unassuming items such as a scroll or spoon, they're usually quite useful and worth a decent amount of money, just like some of the rare gems in the game.

Though you can sell these items, it is best to first save them and donate them to Gunther's Museum to add to the collection. You'll know whether you've donated one before or not, as the description will tell you to donate the item to Gunther to learn more about it if you haven't donated it before. If you have already donated it, then you can either sell it for a profit or gift it to someone who might like it (usually the Dwarf or Penny). You can also use them to tailor certain items at the Sewing Machine.

Most Artifacts are either found by digging through Artifact Spots or dirt, defeating monsters, fishing, solving Secret Notes, or breaking open Artifact Troves and Bone Nodes. Each available Artifact in the game can be obtained using particular methods, with some coming from a multitude of sources, and others only coming from a couple.
