With StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm coming to stores worldwide in just two weeks, Blizzard has been hard at work finalizing the game and adjusting unit balances. The company has now revealed a character-intensive trailer, heavily featuring the obviously-strained relationship between Jim Raynor and the former Queen of Blades, Sarah Kerrigan.

While the latest StarCraft 2 trailer borrows a fair amount of combat footage from the game's opening cinematic, it also adds several lines of dramatic conversation between Raynor, Kerrigan and Warfield. Kerrigan is clearly struggling with returning to her human form, and it appears that something inside of her is yearning for her to reclaim her throne as the Queen of Blades. As the Zerg have split into different factions without her leadership, her quest to return to the throne is set to be the main plot arc of the second StarCraft 2 title.

The trailer shows Kerrigan using a psi-blade, much like the Protoss Zealots. This means, as expected, that Kerrigan's weakened state - or perhaps even her human form - will not last for long during her rise to power in Heart of the Swarm, though she does utilize her more human-like psi-powers instead of her Zerg whips.

Vengeance is a fitting theme for both the trailer and the entire Heart of the Swarm campaign. With Emporer Mengsk currently in power over the Terran Dominion, Kerrigan will be out to exact revenge on the man who first betrayed her back on Tarsonis. All three species will have new tools in their arsenal for the upcoming fight, and whilst none of the trailers show them off, gamers can find a compendium of the new units here.

The trailer closes with Horace Warfield asking Kerrigan what she would do if Raynor saw her now, leaving fans to ponder what scene the audio could possibly have come from. So far, fan theories conclude that Kerrigan is about to kill the general, or, perhaps, that Raynor may have been killed beforehand. Of course, everything is just speculation for the moment, but those dramatic lines do make you wonder.

There's no word on whether Blizzard will release any more tidbits for fans in the coming weeks, but even if they don't, there's always Project Blackstone.

StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm releases March 12th, 2013, for Mac and PC.
