Highlights

  • The crux of the Star Wars franchise centers around the never-ending fight between the Light and Dark Side of the Force, leading to memorable moments and gameplay experiences in video games.
  • While many Star Wars video game Jedi may initially appear as the wise mentor archetype, most of them end up being corrupted in some way, either through fear, inaction, or the Dark Side itself.
  • Some standout Jedi characters in Star Wars video games include Luke Skywalker from Jedi Academy, Revan from Knights of the Old Republic, and Kyle Katarn from Jedi Knight, all of whom display immense wisdom and growth throughout their respective journeys.

There have been a ton of Star Wars video games over the last few decades, and it's only natural that a good portion of those have revolved around the Force-using, lightsaber-wielding Jedi. While smugglers, scoundrels, bounty hunters, and mercenaries all play a huge role in the Star Wars universe, there's simply no denying that the crux of the franchise revolves around the never-ending fight between the Light and Dark Side of the Force, and that usually ends up boiling down to the Jedi and the Sith.

This constant ongoing conflict between the forces of good and evil lead to almost all of Star Wars' most memorable moments, and with the vast majority of Star Wars video games trying to imitate those moments, it's only logical that a ton of those games have put players in the boots of a Jedi Knight. And though there have been a ton of great video game Jedi over the years, only a handful could be considered genuinely wise.

While a ton of Star Wars video game Jedi might first appear as the stereotypical wise mentor archetype, that tends to be a facade in most Star Wars video games, with most game Jedi being corrupted in one form or another, either through fear and inaction or even the Dark Side itself.
