Of all the characters in the Star Wars franchise, it’s perhaps the Sith that hold the status as the most sinister. After all, these Force-users use the Dark Side to achieve their goals, often relying on insidious means to gain control and accomplish their objectives. In Star Wars: The Old Republic, players themselves can choose the Dark Side for their characters, becoming a formidable Sith Warrior in their adventures.

Unlike the popular Jedi in Star Wars lore, the Sith Warrior in The Old Republic capitalizes on more aggressive combat and the dangerous use of Force Lightning to achieve their goals. Serving as the antithesis to the Jedi Knight, there's an awful lot to take in for those hoping to master the Sith Warrior class in the hit MMO.

Remember Flavor: Upfront And Up Close

Being fearsome warriors of the Dark Side, it makes sense for the Sith Warrior to prefer combat roles that put them at the front of the battlefield. The Sith Warrior’s disciplines and sub-classes allow players to fine-tune their close-quarters combat into a particular specialization that they like, but the fact remains that the base Sith Warrior class loves eliminating enemies in close-ranged combat.

Thanks to their strong defenses and sturdy build, the Sith Warrior can carve the path to victory in just about any situation. Their mastery of the Dark Side allows them to unleash a barrage of deadly attacks to obliterate even the strongest competition.

Secure The Advantage Through Buffs

Despite the ferocity of the Sith Warrior allowing them to obliterate opponents who stand in their way, they still need the Dark Side to be able to imbue them with enough power to tear through their enemies. In the game, this translates to Sith Warriors needing to use the right buffs in order to secure the advantage consistently against any type of foe.

Popular buffs include Heroic Moment, which boosts their health regeneration, as well as Unnatural Might, which boosts their potency when it comes to Lightsaber combat and fighting against other Force users. Other useful buffs include the Shii-Cho Form, a default form that is still potent and can increase overall damage dealt while decreasing damage received.

Disrupt Enemy Movements To Stop Retaliation

While the Sith Warrior does have a tendency to be aggressive, a smart enemy that manages to cut them off their rotation can put them in a bit of a tight spot. To avoid these disadvantageous situations, players using the Sith Warrior class should always remember to capitalize on the class and their special Force abilities, which are designed specifically to stop enemies in their tracks.

For instance, Disruption and Force Charge not only damage an enemy, but also interrupt their actions - which is perfect for PVP and deadly bosses. Some attacks also stun multiple opponents at once, such as Force Scream and Intimidating Fear, potentially giving the Sith Warrior’s allies a lot of room to secure their combos before enemies recover.

Level Up Guide

Sith Warrior preparign for combat

While the Sith Warrior is more than capable of taking on numerous opponents at once, it’s not in their nature to do so very early on. Players below Level 10 should practice taking down a few opponents at a time and only try taking down multiple opponents at once with the appropriate AOE abilities, as this gives the Sith Warrior a lot more room to attack all at once, particularly with AOE and multi-hit combos.

A good combo starter would be Force Charge or Mad Dash, allowing the Sith Warrior to zoom into battle quickly or even rush to a particular location while hitting all enemies in the way. Meanwhile, Sweeping Slash alone is enough to hit a lot of opponents trying to attack the Sith Warrior all at once, making it an ideal multi-target option for Sith Warriors who want to practice being tanks.

Companion: Choose Vette

Similar to other classes, the Sith Warrior has the option of picking from a myriad of candidates for their Companion throughout the rest of the game. While a lot of their Companion options have vastly different stories and backgrounds, Vette is perhaps the best option for a Companion, both in terms of narrative and gameplay.

While Vette is the first Companion that the Sith Warrior gets in their story, she undoubtedly remains the best. Her personality is a bit light-hearted, which perfectly complements the rather brooding nature of the Sith Warrior. Moreover, her dual-blaster motif allows her to become a ranged DPS - which is perfect for helping the Sith Warrior dish out punishment as a tank in melee.

Marauder: Swift And Brutal

Sith Warrior Marauder

The Sith Warrior can channel their innate aggression into becoming a Sith Marauder, effectively transforming themselves into deadly killing machines. Thanks to their dual saber, the Marauder can tear through enemy forces easily, and their combat presence allows them to determine the best and the most brutal ways to strike their foes down. For a tank like the Marauder, speed is key to ensure that there won’t be anyone to stand in their way. Depending on certain disciplines, a Marauder can specialize further in other areas as well.

  • Annihilation Marauder: Courtesy of the more aggressive Juyo Form, the Annihilation Marauder can enjoy using their blades in swift and brutal means to eliminate foes quickly and efficiently. Their damage increases over time, allowing them to stay deadlier the longer they stay in combat.
  • Carnage Marauder: Courtesy of the more proactive Ataru Form, the Carnage Marauder allows the Sith Warrior to deal high burst damage and single-target damage, giving them the opportunity to take down heavy-duty foes in no time at all.
  • Fury Marauder: Using their innate rage and the balance of the Shii-Cho form, the Fury Marauder can tap into their inner aggression and ensure they attack their foes in the most efficient and practical way possible. This makes them useful when the team needs to be defended from groups of foes, or in situations where players need to deal a lot of damage to a specific enemy.

Juggernaut: Indomitable Defense

Sith Warrior Juggernaut

Focusing on their ability to show their enemies just how indestructible they are, the Sith Juggernaut transforms defense into a deathly art form. Their mastery of the Dark Side of the Force and their combat approach allows them to imbue themselves with power to make them almost invincible and even drain the energy of their enemies to ensure they have no means to strike back. Depending on the disciplines, a Marauder can specialize in other areas too.

  • Immortal Juggernaut: Emphasizing defense over all else, the Immortal Juggernaut is more than capable of defending the frontlines. Thanks to the Force, the Immortal Juggernaut can become nigh-invincible for a short period, while at the same time, delivering deadly blows to their opponents.
  • Vengeance Juggernaut: Capitalizing on their innate anger, the Vengeance Juggernaut uses the Shien Form to ensure that they get damage boosts without compromising their defensive abilities. Thanks to this damage-oriented build, the Vengeance Juggernaut dispatches enemies swiftly and mercilessly.
  • Rage Juggernaut: Through rage itself, the Rage Juggernaut removes all pretense of restraint and instead unleashes themselves on the enemy with the full wrath of the Dark Side. Thanks to their sheer destructive power, the Rage Juggernaut has access to a myriad of deadly abilities that can crush enemies in no time.
