Whenever May 4th comes along, a host of Star Wars news comes with it due to the series' connection through its famous phrase "may the force be with you." On May 4, 2016 is was announced that cult-classic Nintendo 64 game Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire was coming to GOG.com, and on Monday it was revealed that a vinyl LP based on its music will be coming soon.

Varese Sarabande Records will release the LP on August 7, 2020 alongside a reissue of the soundtrack on CD. It costs $21.98, contains 10 tracks, and will feature album art with major characters drawn by Drew Struzan — an illustrator known for movie posters for Blade Runner, Back to the Future, and of course, Star Wars.

The 1996 game, based on mercenary Dash Rendar from a book in the extended Star Wars canon before Disney took over the franchise, had music composed by Joel McNeely. McNeely has been nominated for two Grammys in 2003 and 2017.

Star Wars' presence in the video game marketplace continues to be strong to this day, with EA recently confirming that the hit Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be the first in a franchise of games.
