With the premiere of Andor coming up fast on Disney, many Star Wars fans out there might want to catch up on what brought the upcoming show's titular rebel agent to this level of popularity. Lucky for them, it looks like theaters all around will have their back, with Rogue One returning to the big screen.

Courtesy of Fandango, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will now return to theaters for one day only on Friday, August 26th, to commemorate the looming launch of Andor. With the series barely over a month away from its own debut, now is the perfect time for interested viewers to re-familiarize themselves with Diego Luna's Cassian Andor as he undertakes one of the most important missions in the history of the Rebel Alliance. Sure, anyone could just watch the movie on Disney Plus where it's readily available, but wouldn't it be nice to see K-2SO be a lovable jerk on the big screen one last time?

Rogue One tells the story of the fateful mission to steal the Death Star plans, effectively setting off the events of A New Hope and the rest of the original Star Wars trilogy. Featuring an eclectic cast of misfits, it explores the theme that hope can come from anywhere, even when times seem their darkest. Aside from Luna as Cassian, the film also stars Felicity Jones as rebellious drifter Jyn Erso, Alan Tudyk as the voice of K-2SO, Donnie Yen as the mysterious yet capable blind monk Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen as his close partner Baze, and Riz Ahmed as pilot Bodhi Rook. Genevieve O'Reilly and Forest Whitaker also appear as Senator Mon Mothma and radical rebel Saw Gerrera, respectively, which they will both reprise in the upcoming show.

Even though Andor is a prequel series, it still helps to know who some of these people are. It will follow Luna as he reprises the role of Cassian Andor in his earlier years, offering audiences a glimpse at how he became radicalized in the face of the Galactic Empire's oppressive rule. Trailers have also revealed the return of characters like Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera, and there's always the possibility of more.

Relatively little is still known about what to expect from Andor. However, the one-day theatrical re-release of Rogue One will also feature a sneak peek at the series, which may shed a bit more light on its whole deal ahead of its premiere. Someone might want to take bets on whether the teaser will leak from a shaky phone camera before it gets an official widespread release.

The timing of Rogue One's brief return is pretty clever as well, placing it shortly before the premiere of Andor to give audiences a crash course on a bit of Star Wars canon while also claiming a weekend where few other big releases will be around to battle for those sweet box office numbers. So anyone who wants to go might want to make their August 26th plans ahead of time.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story returns to theaters for one day on Friday, August 26th, 2022, while Andor will premiere on September 21st on Disney Plus.
