Despite this, the expansion featured just nine chapters, all of which felt rushed, a semi-engaging plotline, and all the content it did feature was generally accepted among fans as being okay at best. 5 Legacy Of The Sith
Legacy of The Sith is the latest The Old Republic expansion and is in top contention to be one of the most disappointing expansions the MMORPG has released. After years of waiting, fans got an expansion that gives them two hours of content at most. Within those two hours, barely anything stands out.
The story here is middling, the content is minimal, and the romance options are subpar. All in all, Legacy of The Sith is an expansion only the most dedicated fans can get some contentment out of.
4 Knights Of The Fallen Empire
Knights of The Fallen Empire plays more like a standalone game than an MMO expansion, and that is precisely what sets it back. The expansion was a major release for the game and one that introduced many changes moving forward.
While as a whole it is considered to be a decent release, fans had many gripes with it. Firstly, the storytelling here is all over the place, with some chapters being fun and others being a drag. It also seems to benefit Force users the most, so players who are not Sith or Jedi will probably struggle here quite a bit. As a whole, Knights of The Fallen Empire does not seem like an expansion befitting an expansive MMO title.
3 Rise Of The Hutt Cartel
Rise of The Hutt Cartel is a well-received expansion of The Old Republic. This expansion revolves around the Hutt Cartel and is set on the gorgeous planet of Makeb. Both the Republic and Sith Empire set their sights on acquiring one of the planet's valuable resources. The setting is quite cramped, so players can expect a lot of frantic action.
While the plot here is not exactly outstanding, the views Makeb presents to players more than make up for it. Overall, Rise of The Hutt Cartel is arguably the game's greatest-looking expansion and one that players who love combat will enjoy no matter how many times they revisit it.
2 Onslaught
Onslaught was the breath of fresh air many fans were looking for. The game went back to its roots. Featuring a simple yet engaging Republic vs. Imperials storyline and full of characters and playing options that fans enjoyed, Onslaught is widely considered to be one of the best expansions The Old Republic currently offers.
Beyond all this, the expansion also featured a gorgeous setting and tons of action. While the back-to-basics approach and a semi-impactful plotline might be a deal breaker for some, Onslaught was, as a whole, just the expansion the game needed. All in all, Onslaught is an expansion appreciated by old and new fans alike. Every new player of The Old Republic should seek to play through this expansion at least once.
1 Shadow Of Revan
Shadow of Revan expansion features everything fans expect from a good The Old Republic expansion. Excellent world-building? Check. Engaging main and side characters? Check. An epic story that unfolds slowly and has an action-packed climax? Check. The unique and impactful final boss battle at the end is noteworthy enough on its own.
The story here centers around Revan, a character that Knights of the Old Republic fans will remember well. It is set on the planet of Rishi, a planet full of peril and pirates, with tensions running high throughout the duration of this expansion. Everything from its cutscenes to its story to the atmosphere and enemies is near impeccable. All in all, Shadow of Revan is tough to beat when it comes to the best expansions for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
