Star Wars Jedi: Survivor developer Respawn Entertainment has just posted a new job listing for an upcoming project, and many fans think it could be a third installment of the series. Earlier this year, Cal Kestis returned in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, an action-packed sequel that tasked players with uncovering the mystery behind a hidden Jedi sanctuary while battling the forces of the Galactic Empire. Jedi: Survivor built on the formula of 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order with new Force powers and lightsaber styles, and the results were rave reviews and blockbuster sales.

The most prominent Star Wars stories are told as trilogies, and Respawn has hinted that the Jedi series would have three installments many times in the past. Over the past few months, Respawn has been looking for new workers to help with a project that many think is this third Jedi game, such as a Senior VFX Artist and Sr. Combat Designer. Cameron Monaghan, who plays Cal Kestis in both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, has stated that another Jedi title is already being planned, though he has remained tight-lipped on any particular details about Cal’s next adventure.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Game Director Quits EA

Stig Asmussen, the director behind the critically acclaimed and commercial hit Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is leaving Respawn Entertainment and EA.

Now Respawn has posted a new job listing for a Principal Gameplay Designer on its official website, as reported by GamesRadar. While this listing makes no mention of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or any potential follow-up, it does state that the candidate will “work with design leadership, level design, art, code, and animation departments to create a satisfying and fun gameplay experience,” and "design and iterate on hero navigation mechanics.” It also asks that applicants have seven or more years of experience in the game industry, experience using scripting tools to fine-tune player controls, and practical knowledge of the level design process.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor Threequel Story Paths

A currently un-confirmed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sequel seems like the most likely project for this new Principal Gameplay Designer to work on, but it bears mentioning that such a project isn’t the only thing in Respawn’s pipeline. Other job offerings on Respawn’s website mention the upcoming Star Wars FPS the studio announced in January 2022, which is said to draw inspiration from the beloved Star Wars: Dark Forces series of old. Outside of Star Wars, Respawn is looking for a Lead Level Designer and Game Designer to work on Apex Legends and a Technical Game Design Intern for an unspecified project.

Respawn’s recent listing for a new Principal Gameplay Designer could be for any of these in-development titles, as it doesn’t mention a specific game. Still, it could also be for the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sequel that Cameron Monaghan says is already in the works. Only time will tell what the future holds for the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor series, especially after director Stig Asmussen announced his departure from both Respawn and EA back in September.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is currently available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
