Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has unveiled that the actor behind the voice of Rick the Door Technician, the Empire's funniest Scout Trooper, is Yuri Lowenthal. Having launched earlier this year, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has received high praise despite a technically rocky launch. Approaching The Game Awards 2023, the sequel has a nomination for Best Action/Adventure Game, as well as a nomination for Cameron Monaghan's performance as Cal Kestis. Some believe Jedi: Survivor should've also been given a nod for its stellar narrative alongside nominees like Alan Wake 2, Final Fantasy 16, and Baldur's Gate 3.
Rick the Door Technician gained popularity among the Star Wars community for being one of the funniest bosses in Jedi: Survivor. Found late in the game on the Nova Garon Imperial station, Rick has the appearance of a regular grunt Scout Trooper, but charges at players with a fully-sized boss health bar. Luckily, like any other fodder enemy in the game, Rick can be vanquished with just a single strike, terminating his ambition of climbing the ranks of the Empire. Shortly after the game's launch, EA Star Wars provided a fun stat, showing that as of June 2023, only 489 Jedi: Survivor players have been bested by Rick, most of them likely out of pity.

Seven months after launch, Jedi: Survivor finally felt it necessary to reveal who was behind the voice of Rick the Door Technician. The EA Star Wars Twitter account announced that acclaimed actor Yuri Lowenthal was behind the fun surprise cameo. Lowenthal is, of course, best known for providing the voice of Peter Parker in Insomniac Games' ever-popular Spider-Man franchise, of which the highly acclaimed sequel, Spider-Man 2, has just been released.
The fact that Respawn Entertainment got the very busy Yuri Lowenthal in for the small, but funny cameo role shows the studio's confidence that the concept of a meme miniboss fight in Rick the Door Technician would be a standout moment for fans. Since Rick the Door Tech is an optional miniboss, players can play out Cal's journey while keeping the famous Scout Trooper alive. With this in mind, there's a chance that Respawn could canonically keep Rick alive for another potential appearance in the confirmed third Star Wars Jedi game. Respawn has done something similar with the infamous Oggdo Bogdo boss from Fallen Order reappearing in Survivor alongside its equally dangerous offspring.
As The Game Awards 2023 swiftly approaches, it'll be interesting to see if Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes home Best Action/Adventure game, and if Cameron Monaghan will finally receive his flowers for Cal Kestis after Jedi: Fallen Order missed the Game Awards cutoff date late in 2019. Since the sequel was released only a few months ago, it'll likely be a few more years before the third title in the Star Wars Jedi series is revealed.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Fallen Order, which was also developed by Respawn and published by EA. Continuing Cal Kestis' story, Survivor is an action-adventure game with Soulslike combat, multiple planets to explore, and an engaging story.
